General Information: This application is required for all proposals involving the addition of any floor area, in-
cluding net floor area and /or gross residential floor area (GRFA). This also includes proposals for'residential
250 additions' and 'interior conversions'. Applicable Vail Town Code sections can be found at
www.vailgov.com under Vail Information — Town Code Online. All projects requiring design review must re-
ceive approval prior to submitting a building permit application. An application for Design Review cannot be
accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development Department, as outlined in
the submittal requirements. The project may also need to be reviewed by the Town Council and /or the Plan-
ning and Environmental Commission. Design review approval expires one year from the date of approval,
unless a building permit is issued and construction commences.

486 Forest Road Project Narrative:
486 Forest Road is a primary /secondary residence.
The primary residence at 486 Forest Road is proposed to be expanded by 230 square feet and
approximately 300 square feet of site coverage as allowed.
An existing previous addition on the south side of the house has been demolished under a
separate demolition permit and will be replaced as the major portion of this expansion. This will
be a one story over basement addition. Plans are attached.
In addition, this proposal includes upgrading the front entry with a relocated front door, steps and
a roofed area to improve the visibility and appearance of the entrance. This entry mimics
components of the neighboring duplex to maintain compatibility between the two units.
The renovation includes upgrading materials on the street fagade of the house, including
expanding stone veneer areas, adding copper panels to the garage doors and copper panels on
a portion of the upper fagade.
To maintain compatibility with the neighboring duplex, copper panels will be added to the garage
door on that house as well.
Finally, minor interior improvements including new tile and lighting in the bathrooms, refinishing of
woodwork in the primary living areas and improvements to the kitchen are anticipated.
