Changes to Approved Plans
General Information: This application is for all changes to approved plans prior to Certificate of Occupancy. An applica-
tion for Design Review cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community development De-
. partment. Design Review approval expires one year from the date of approval, unless a building permit is issued and
construction commences.
Submittal Requirements:
The Town of Vail offers finro (2) methods for submittal of materials for review of applications. Materials can be submitted
either digitally or on paper. Whichever method you select all materials shall be submitted in that format throughout the
Design Review process. The Town encourages you to consider using the submittal of digital documents and plans.
If submitting digitally all elements of the application shall be uploaded to the Town's share file site as a complete set of
materials. If submitting paper three (3) copies of the materials noted with an asterisk (*) and one (1) copy of all others
are required. The materials necessary to have a complete application are as follows:
1. Copies of all pertinent approved plans with illustrated, labeled changes.
2. Joint Property Owner Written Approval Letter, if applicable.

We believe you will find that the outlined changes that we are requesting are all as we
discussed and agreed to in our last meeting. We ask that you review and provide your

We are currently traveling and we will be back in Vail about June 10 should you require an
additional visit to our property. Upon your approval we will immediately apply for the permit
extension as discussed and begin work asap.

hopeful that we can finally bring this phase of the renovation to a conclusion in the next few

A pre-application meeting with Town of Vail Staff is not required; however, highly recommended. The purpose of a pre-
application meeting is to identify any critical issues pertaining to the proposal and to determine the appropriate development

Application SUbmittal
Submit all required information under the submitta/requirements section of this application by the deadlines stated above.
Incomplete applications will not be processed. Upon receipt of a complete application, the Community Development
Department shall review the submitted materials for general compliance with the appropriate requirements of the zoning
code. If the application is not in compliance with zoning code requirements, the application and submittal materials shall be
returned to the applicant with a written explanation of non-compliance.
Staff Review
The Administrator(a member of the Planning Staf� will review and either approve a Design Review application, approve it
with conditions, deny the application, or refer the application to the Design Review Board for a decision. All Staff approvals
are reviewed by the Design Review Board and any administrative decision is subject to final approval by the Board. The
Board reviews applications and may approve, approve with conditions, deny the application, or table the application to allow
applicants to respond to comments.
Desi�n Review Board Meetinq Repuirements
Prior to the meeting, for new construction and additions, the applicant must stake and tape the project site to indicate
property lines, proposed buildings and building corners. All trees proposed to be removed must be marked. The applicant
must ensure that staking done during the winter is not buried by snow.
The applicant, or their representative(s), shall be present at the Design Review Board public meeting. The item will be
postponed if the applicant fails to appear before the Design Review Board, on their scheduled meeting date.

Below is the additional detail and expanded overview of the changes which have been discussed with
Warren Campbell and are requested.
1) Stucco will be installed in complimentary tone (Benjamin Moore color AC31 hot springs stones)
on the north side of the residence to the west of the front door(see Bigsby north elevation) ,the
west facing area below the existing office windows, and continue under the existing west facing
deck(see 8igsby west elevation)to the southwest corner with a new wing wall (4"X 12"to be
installed )with the stucco wrapped to new inside corner on the south side of the residence (see
Bigsby south elevation 1 &2 of new wing wal1J. Areas to receive stucco are highlighted in red.
Metal flashing will be installed as needed for 4"to 8" below stucco at point of possible ground
or concrete contact.
2) Stucco (same color)will be installed on the chimney above roof line on all 4 sides.
3) Living room windows (south and west facing)will be replaced with aluminum clad Andersen E-
series windows in matching red color(cinnamon toast). The south facing windows are a fixed
pane but the new west facing windows will be with an fixed pane above an operating awning
lower portion.
4) New front entry door with full length side light. (awaiting detail and specs)

Thank you for taking my call this morning and confirming that per your discussions with Paul and Nancy
Bigsby that my agreement as their shared common wall neighbor to okay
the changes that Paul has listed in his email below does not in any way obligate or require me to are not changes
that I would have to match these items on my half of the 1180 Casolar Del
Norte Duplex. With that understanding I certainly grant my approval for the Bigsbys to proceed with the
items listed in Paul's email
attached below in my role as their shared common wall neighbor at 1180 Casolar Del Norte Drive.
I also appreciate your tallcing to me about the one change that I would like to do on my half of the duplex, an
application for which I will submit shortly.
It was good to get confirmation from you that if I move forward with the maintenance project to replace the two
existing downstairs bedroom windows
with the same make/model that the Bigsbys have on their side of the unit for the mirror image bedrooms that it
is okay for me to only replace those two
windows and not have any requirement to replace any additional windows on my half of the unit. As we
discussed, this will eliminate the window
air conditioner that hangs out of one of these windows and will restore the adjacent window to operational(it
currently has
difficulty shutting due to the old frame swelling up). These two new windows are a near match to the ones
being replaced (same basic design/layout)
and I doubt you could tell the difference when viewing them from the road below the house. Because they are
not an exact match there will be a
small additional frame around the border of each, but these will be painted to match the same color as the siding
of the building and/or the red trim of the other windows.
So again, from a distance (the road under the house) this will likely not even been noticeable as different from
what is there now. Pll get the paperwork submitted for the project
to replace these two windows on my half of the duplex submitted by the end of this month.

John: I will need your signature on the TOV joint owner approval form for exterior renovations.
The staff(Warren Campbell)given us an informal verbal approval on our request for replacement of the 3 living room
south facing and 3 west facing windows. The west facing window will be changed to have an operating awning bottom
section for ventilation. The windows will be the same energy aluminum clad high efficiency Eagle brand that we installed
in the south facing bedroom last year in the same color. These windows are the same one you indicated that you were
contemplating to possibly replace your bedroom windows.
Additionally, we have been approved to have stucco installed only on our side on the west facing area under the office
windows, under the west facing deck, around the front(north facing side of the office)to the front door and the entire
chimney.
Additionally we have been approved for a new front door and side lite.
The town (Warren Campbell) has agree that none of this will be required of you as per your wishes.
I can forward you a blank form in the package of forms that Warren has provided me and for your completion.
Please let me know as I would like to get this submitted before you leave for Japan.
