Lionshead Circle Vail CO 816573 CERTIFIED MAIL-RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED Dear Mr. Moulton: This letter is to serve as a follow up to our phone conversation last week regarding the exterior lighting attached to the decks on the North side of the building. You stated that your insurance company required the lights and that they had been there for many years. While the need for lighting is indeed important, the Town of Vail is requesting that you bring these lights into compliance. The Town of Vail Development Standards Handbook states the following in Section 10.F.1: Purpose: This subsection of the design guideline establishes standards for minimizing the unintended and undesirable side effects of outdoor lighting while encouraging the intended and desirable safety and aesthetic purposes of outdoor lighting. It is the purpose of the design review guidelines to allow illumination which provides the minimum amount of lighting which is needed for the property on which the light sources are located. In addition, the purpose of this subsection is to protect the legitimate privacy of neighboring residents by controlling the intensity of the light source. These lights are required to have a full cutoff shield. These lights are no longer considered legal nonconforming lights as there have been changes in light type and also location. You must bring these lights into conformity within 15 calendar days of receipt of this letter. Please feel free to call me at 477-3417 with any questions, comments or concerns you may have. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. It is appreciated very much. Very Truly Yours, David Rhoades, Code Enforcement Officer Town of Vail, Dept of Community Development
