Re: Illegal signage
Dear Mr. Apostal:
One of the many functions of Code Enforcement is to provide for the enforcement of the
Town of Vail Municipal Codes.
It has come to our attention that the above-described property may be in violation of the
Town of Vail Municipal Codes as follows:
Reported Violation(s): You have an illegal amount of signage in the windows at
this location. Section 11-4B-20 (WINDOW SIGNS) of the Town Code states, in
part, that:
Window signs shall be regulated as follows:
B. Size:
1. Any sign or signs attached to or applied to the inside surface of any
exterior window will be limited to a coverage of fifteen percent (15%)
of the total window space.
D. Number: Each window frontage may contain sign or signs within the
prescribed sign limits for each frontage on a street or major
pedestrianway with a maximum or two (2) signs per frontage.
You currently have two (2)window signs, one on each door, and a third displayed in the
west window.
You also have two (2)business identification signs at your business. One is wall
mounted just west of the entry doors and the other is a hanging/projecting sign above the
entry doors. We do not have a record of any sign application or approvals for your
business at this location.
Please remedy this situation within 15 calendar days from receipt of this letter. Failure
to do so will result in a summons being issued.
Your prompt attention regarding this matter will be greatly appreciated and will help
assure that Vail continues to be the desirable and pleasant resort community for which we
all strive. Please feel free to call me with any questions, comments or concerns you may
have. My office phone number is 970-477-3417.
Very Truly Yours,
David Rhoades, Code Enforcement Officer
