Box 1025 Gypsum, CO 81637 970.904.0621 michael @happytreesandgardens.com Date: August 12, 2013 To: Steve Vath, svath4 @yahoo.com From: Michael Scott, Happy Trees Re: Removal of Colorado Blue Spruce at 1044 Homestake Circle, Vail Removal of(1) Picea pungens (Colorado Blue Spruce) approximately 65' —70' tall Reason for removal: The spruce is too close to the residence being within 10' from the structure; additionally only the outer 2"—6" tips are healthy and unaffected by severe Pine Scale infestation. It can be expected that with an infestation this severe up to 80% of the foliage will be lost ultimately killing the tree. It should be noted that another tree service had been hired to preventatively spray for Pine Scale sometime between June and the present; however there is no evidence that spraying took place as there was not any flagging or indication per EPA standards.
