Dear Martin,
We propose the following revision to floor type F2 to accommodate draft stopping at
plumbing chases as discussed with Shane and JR on site:
Floor Type F2: “Existing Construction at plumbing walls: ¾” thick plywood floor sheathing
on 18” TJL open web joists and 1 layer new 5/8” rated quiet rock on underside of joists.
Existing floor/ceiling cavity to be completely filled with non‐combustible, non cellulose
batt insulation. STC 50, ½ hour required/rated. At existing through‐floor plumbing
chases, fill penetrations with ¾” plywood around pipe as practical within 1” of pipes, fill
wall cavity above and in line with the dwelling unit separations with adequately supported
non‐faced fiberglass batt insulation (see attached) to be in conformance with 2009 IBC
717.3.1 and 717.3.2 regarding draft stopping materials, and install Hilti FS‐One High
Performance Intumescent Firestop Sealant, UL F‐C‐1059 around pipe penetrations per
manufacturer’s recommendations (see attached).”
