❑ RFI ❑ MEETING NOTES ® RESPONSE ❑ CLARIFICATION/CHANGE
I have reviewed the proposed layout and specifications for the installation of the SnowTrapper ST18 aluminum
snowguards on the roof of the above referenced project. The roof has a 6:12 pitch and is approximately 26' in
length from the eaves to the ridge. The roofing material is Da Vinci synthetic shakes. The proposed layout is a
pattern of 3 horizontal rows of snowguards spaced at 12" o.c. between rows and at 24" o.c. within the rows at
the eaves of the roof, and additional rows from the eaves to the ridge consisting of horizontal rows spaced at 24"
o.c, between rows and at 36" o.c. within the rows. The horizontal rows of snowguards will be staggered. The
snow load on the roof is 80 psf per Town of Vail building code requirements.
The specifications for the snowguards themselves indicate failure test loads at more than 2.5 times the required
strength for the above conditions. The snowguards should be attached to the plywood or OSB roof sheathing
with three 1.75"x 0.120"diameter galvanized roofing nails per snowguard.
The proposed layout and recommended fastening are approved.
