Request for Change
Change from the 2 hr wall type 1 to a 2 hr shaftwall system
• Wall type 1 calls for 6"metal stud wall with two layers of 5/8"drywall on each side for
a finished dimension of 8 1/2". This requires difficult staging inside the elevator shaft
of riding the top of the elevator after it's operational.
• We propose using a 4'CH stud, 1"shaftliner board and two layers of 5/8"drywall at
the finished side for a wall dimension of 5 1/4". This has a 2 hr rating and can be built
from outside the shaft. I don't know if the 8 1/2"wall dimension is critical or not. If so
we could furr the 4" CH stud to match the 8 1/2"dimension.
