workmen vehicles upon any street, sidewalk, all�y or public
place or any portion �hereof. The right-of-way on all Towri of
Vail streets and roads is approximately 5 �t. off pavement.
This ordinance will be strict3y enfarced by the Town of Vail
Public Works Department. Persons faund viaZa�ing this ordinance
will be given a 24 hour written notice to remove said material.
In th� event the person so notified does not comp3y with the
nQtice within the 24 hour time specifxed, the Public Works
Department will remove said matesial at the expense of p�:rson
notified. The provisians of this ordinance shall not be

PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT PROCESS
How it relates �o Building Permits:
1) Fil! out our c#�eck list provided with a buildinq permit appJication.
If yes was answered to any of the above questions. then a "Pubi'rc Way" is
required. You can pick up an application at either Community Development,
located at 75 S. Frontage Raati or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valley Drive.
2) Notice sign offs for utrlity companies. All utilities must field verify (Iocate)
respective utilities �rior to signing appl�cation. Saame ufility companies require up
to a 48 hour notice to schedule a I�ocate.
3) A construction traffic control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet
of paper.An a�proved site plan may also be used. TF�is plan will show locations
of all traffic contral �evices(signs, cones, etc..) a�d the work zone, {area af
Cor�struc#ion, Staging, etc..). This �lan will �xpire an Oct. �5th. and v►rill ne�d to
be resubmitted #or approval through the winter.
4) Sketch of work be�ng pertormed must be submitted indicating dimensians (length,
width & depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site
plan for the job.
5) Submot comp�eted applicatian ta tihe Public Works's office for review. �f required,
iocates wil! �e scheduled for the Town of Vail Ele�ctricians a�d Irr�gation crew. The
Ivcates take place in the morni€�g but, may r�quire up to 48 hours tv perform.
6) The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the ap�iication and apprave
or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as ta the status and any that may
needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, but please
allow up to one week to process.
7� As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will be f�ed to Community
Development allowing the "Building Permit" to be released. Pde�se do not canfuse �
the "Public V11ay Permit" with a "Building Permit" to do work on a project itself.
NOTE:
* The above process is for work in a public way only.
* Public Way Permits are valid only until Nov►ember 15th.

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS/OTnTNER BUILiDERS
Effective June 20, 1991, the Town of Vail Building Department has
develaped the following procedur�s to ensure that new construction
sites have adequately establishe�i proper drainage frorn building
sites along and adjacent to Town of Vail roads or streets .
The Town of 'Vail public Works Department will be required to
inspect and approve drainage adjacent to Town of Vail roads ar
streets and the installation of temparary or pern�ar�ent culverts at
access points from the raad or street on to the construction site.
Such approval must be ob�ained priar to any request for inspeet�on.

electrical or any other inspection. Please call 479-2160 to
request an inspection from the Public Warks Department . Allow a

In summary, Ordinance No. 5 states that it i.s unlawful for any
person to litter, track or deposit any soil, rock, sand, debris
or material, including trash dumpsters, portable toilets and
workmen vehicles upon any street, sidewalk, alZey or public
place ar any portion thereof. The right-of-way an all Town of
Vail streets and roads is approximately 5 ft. off pavement.
This ordinance wi�l be strictly enforced by the Town of VaiZ
Public Wozks Department. Persons tound violating this ordinance
will be given a 24 haur written notice to remove said material.
In the event the person so notified does nat comply with t�ie
notice within the 24 hour time specifieri, the public Works
Departrnent wi11 remove said matQrial at the ex�ense of person
na�i.fied. The provisions of this ordinance shall not be
applicable to construction� maintenance or repair prajects of
any street or alley or any utilities in the right-a-way.

Iocated at 75 S. Frontage Road ar Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valiey Drsve.
2� I�otice sign offs fvr utility companies. All utitities must field verify {locate)
respective utilities priaT to signing application. Svme utility companies require up
to a 48 hour notice to schedule a Iocate.
3) A construction traff�c contral/staging ptan must be prepared on a separate sheet
of paper.An approved site plan may also be used. This plan wMll show locations
of afl traffic control devices(signs, cones, etc..) and the wark zone, (area of
Construction, Staging, etc..y. This pian will expire on Oct. 15th. and will need to
be resubmitted for approvad through the w�nter.
4� Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimension� (length,
width & depth of work). This may be drawr� on the traffic control plan or a site
pfan for the job.
5) Subrnit campleted application to the Public Works's office for review, If required,
locates wilt be scheduled for th�e Touvn of Vail Electricians and Irrigation crew. The
locates take piace in the m�rning but, may require up to 48 hours to pertorm.
6) The Public Work's Cor�struction Inspectar will review�the applicatian and approve
or disapprove the permit. You will be cantacted as to the status and any that may
needed. Mast permits are released wiihin 48 haurs of being received, but please
allow up to one week to process.
. 7) . As soon as the �ermit is processed, a copy will be fasc+ed to Cammunity
Develapment allowing the "Building Permit" ta be re��ased. P�ease do not canfuse �

develaped the following procedures to ensure that new construction
sites have adequa�ely established prope.� drainage fram building
sites along and ad�acent to Town o�' Vail xoads or s�r�ets .
The Town of Vaal p�lic Works Department wi11 be required ta
inspect and approve drainage adjacent to Town of Vail roads or
streets ar�d the installation of tempora�ry or perxnanent culverts at
access points from �he road or street or� to the canstruction site.
Such approval znust be abtaine� prior to any request for inspe�tion
by the Town of Vail Building Department far footings or temporary

In summary, Ordinancs No. 6 states that it is unlawful far any
gerson to Zitter, track or deposit any soil, rock, sand, debris
or material, inc3uding trash dumpsters, portable toilets and
workmen vehicles upcn any street, sidewalk, alley or public
place or any portion thereof. The right-of--way on all Town of
Vail streets and roads is apprcximately 5 ft. off pavement.
�'his ordinance will be strictly enforced by the T�wn of Vail
Public Wnrks Department, persans found viol�.ting this ordinance
wi11 be giv�n a 24 hour written notice tc remove said material.
• In the event the person so notified does nat comply with the

1) Fill out our check list provided with a buildin4 permit aonlication
If yes was answverea! to any of the above quesaons then a "Pubfic Way" is
required. You can p�ck up an applica#ion ai either Community Development,
located at?5 S. Frontage Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valley Drive.
2} Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utilities must f�eld uer�fy (iocate)
res,pective utifities pri�r to signir�g appfication. Some utility com,panies require up
to a 48 haur notice to schedule a locate.
- �) A canstrucbon traffic corttr�l/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet
of paper.An a�proved site �lan may also be used. This plan will show focations
af all traffic cvntrol devices(signs, cones, etc..) and the work zone, (area of
Construction, Staging, etc..). This plan will expire on Oct. 15th. a�d will need to
be resubmitted far approval through the winter.
4y Sketch of work bei�g perfarmed must be submitted indicating dirr�ensions (length,
width & depth ot work). This may be drawr� on t�e traffic cantrol plan or a site
plan for the job.
5) Submit completed application to the Public Works's affice far review. If required,
locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electriciar�s and Irrigat�on crew. The
- locates take place in the mvr�ing but, may require up to 48 hours ta perform.
&) The Pubfic Work's Construction Ins��ctor will review the applicat�on and approve
ar disapQfove the permit. You will be contacEed as to the status and any that may
needed. Most permits are released within 4$ hours of being received, but please
allow up to one week to process.

Effective June 20, 1991, the Town af Vail �uilding Depart�ent has
develaped the follawing procedures to ensure that new constructian
sites have adequatel-y es�ablished proper drainage from building
sit�s along and ad�acent to Tawn of Vail roads ar streets .
The Town of VaYl Public Works Department w�ill be required to
inspect and approve drainage adjacent ta Town of `Tail roads c�r
streets and the installation of temporary or permanent cu3verts at
access points from the raad or street oa to the canstruction site.
5uch apgraval must be obtair,eci prior to any request for inspectian
by the Town of Vail �uilding Department for footings or temporary
electrical or any other inspection. Please ca11 479-2160 to
request an inspection fram the Public Works Department . Allow a
minimum of Z4 hour notice .
Also, the Town o� Vail Public Works Department will be approving
all final drainage and culvert installatifln wi�h resulting road
paLChing as necessary. Su•ch approval must be obtained prior to
F� nal Certificate of Occt�Aancy issuance .
