Page 1 of 8 10/1/2013 Grid‐Tied with Battery Backup Photovoltaic System Details System Layout Operation Modes Grid Connected Normal Operation: Grid feeds the Main Panel(s). PV (photovoltaic) and/or Grid feed the Critical Load Panel. Batteries are charged by solar and/or the grid. Batteries Low: Grid feeds the Main Panel(s). Power from the Grid will feed the Critical Load Panels and charge the Batteries. Batteries are Restored by Grid or Solar: Grid feeds the Main Panel(s). Return to normal operation ‐ PV and/or Grid feed Critical Load Panels. By David Rhoades at 8:50 am, Oct 02, 2013 B13-0437 Page 2 of 8 10/1/2013 Excess Solar Power: Critical Load Panels are fully served by PV and the Batteries are fully charged. Excess PV power will feed the Main Panel(s). If all loads on Main Panel(s) are served, excess power will go out the grid. Grid Outage Normal Operation: Main Panel(s) are out of power. PV and Batteries feed Critical Load Panel until the grid returns or the batteries are too low to maintain the critical loads. Batteries Low: Main Panel(s) are out of power. PV and Batteries feed Critical Load Panels until the grid returns or the batteries need to be charged by the generator. Generator feeds the critical loads panel and PV is shut down. Batteries are Restored by Generator: Main Panel(s) are out of power. operation. Excess Solar Power: Main Panel(s) are out of power. PV charges the batteries and feeds the Critical Loads Panels. Critical Load Panel is fully served by PV and Batteries are fully charged, Outback Radians will shutdown PV via relay.
