BUILDING PERMIT ISSUANCE TIME FRAME
I� t�is pe�mit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Appraual, Engineer's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Planning Department review or Flealth �epartment review, and a review
by the Building Department, khe estimated time for a total review will take as long as three (3)
weeks.
Ali commercial {large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum requdrements. Residential and smafl projects sho�ld take a iesser amount
of time. However, if residential ar smaller projects 'r��act the various above mentianed
departments with regard to necessary review, these projects may also take three (3) weeks to
review and approve.
Every attempt wili be made by this department to expedite this permit as soon as possible.

PUBlIC WORKS AND THE PUBL�C WAY PERMIT PROCESS

If yes was answered to any of the questions then a "Public 1JVay" permit is required. `�ou
can pick up an application at either Community Development, located at 75 St�uth Frontage
Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Elkhorn Drive.
� Notice sign-offs for util'ity companies. ALL utilities must �eld verify (locate) respective
utilities prior to sign�ng application. Some utiiity companies require up to 48 hours notice to
sci�ed€�le a locate.
� A construction trafFc control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of paper.
An approved site plan rrzay also be used. This plan will show locations of all traffic control
deuices (signs, cones, etc.) ar�d the work zone, (area of construction, staging, etc.). This
plan will ex�ire an f�ove�nber 1st and wiii need to be resubrnitted for consic�eration far
approval through the wFnter. Be aware that your resubmission fvr winter may be denied
dependinc� on the location oi` caRStruction.
� Sketch of work being performed must be submi�ed indicating dimensians (length, width
and depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic cor�trol plan or a s6te plan for the job.
: Subrrbit cam�leted application to the Public Work's office for review. If required, lo�cates will
be scheduled for the Town of Vail e9ectricians and irrigation crew, The locates take plaee in
the morning, but may require up to 48 hours to perform.
:- The Pubiic Work's Construction Tnspector will review tf�e application and approve or deny
the permit. You will be contacted as to the status and any requirements that may be
needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, but please allow up
to one {1} week to process.
r As soan as the permit is approved, the Building Department will be notified, allowing the
"BuiEding Permit" to �e refeased. Please da not co�fuse the °Public Way Permit" with a
"Bu�lding Ferrr�it".

ensure that new constructior� sites �ave adequately establish�d praper drainage
from building sites al�ng and adjacer�t to Tov+rn of Vail roads or streets.
The Town of Vail Pub[ic Works Department will �e re�uired to inspect and approve
drainage adjacent ta Town of Vail roads or streets and the installation of temparary
or permane�t culverts at access points from the road or street onto ti�e construction
site. Such approval must be obtained prior to a�y requests for inspection by the
Town of Vail Building Department for footings, temporary electrical or any other
inspec�ion. Please call Leanard Sandovaf at 479-2198 to request an inspection from
the Public Works Department. Allow a minimum of 24 hour notice.

�' llnlawful deposits: S�bject to subsection C thereof, it is unlawful for any p�erson to litter, track or
deposit, or cause to be littered, tracked or depositetl, sand, gravEl, rocks, mud, dirt, snow, ice, or any
otit�er debris or material upo� any street, sidewalk, alley or public place, or any portion thereof.
❑ Notice; Abatement: The Director of P�blic Works may notify and require any person who violates or
causes another to violate the provision of subsection a hereof, or who has ir, the Director's �mployment
a person who violates or causes another to violate the same, top remove such sand, gravef, rocks, mud, �
dirt, snow, ice or any other debris or materhal within twenty four (24) hours after receipt of said notice
by the �irector of Public Works. In the event the person so notified does not comply with the notice
within the period of tirroe herein specified, the Direetor of Public Works, or other a�athorized ager�t, may
cause any such sand, gravel, rocks, mud, dirt, snow, ice, det�ris or any other material to be removed
from any street or alley at the expense of the notified.

any person wrho violates or eauses another ta violate the same, may be issued a surnmons to appear
before the Municipal CQUrt of the Town for said violations, and upon being found guilty of a violation

Directar of Public Works as provided in subsectian � hereof, and any such person shall, in addition ko
payment of the expense of removal incurred by the Director of Public Works, as provided in subsec#ion B
hereof, upon being foun�i guifty of a violation hereunder, be punishable as provided in Sec�ion 1-4-1 of

street or upon any place within this Municipality in such a manner as to eonstitute a violatian of any

be abandoned under the conditions prescribed by Colorado Revised Statutes section 42-4-1102, as
amended, the officer shall require the vehicle ta be removed or cause it ta be removed and paced in
storage in the nearest garage or other place af safety designated or maintained by this Municipality, and
the charges for tawing and starage of such vehicle shall b� charged to the owner of the vehicle in

West Environmental, Inc. is currently under contract to perform an asbestos abatement i�
project at the above listed praperty. During the permit approval process the Town of Vaii
and the Fire Department raised concerns with the building alazm system. Apparently,the
system cannot be isolated in the units identified for remodel. Because the alarms are
sensitive to dust the City has recommended the alarms in each unit be covered(bagged)
during the day and uncovered at night. Per your recommenda.tion, West Environmental
will cover the alarms in each of the units during the day while asbestos abatement is
occurring and uncover the alarms at night.
