Re: Vail Valley Medical Center
l81 West Meadow Drive
During a recent state inspection of the above projecY several system discrepancies were noted. This is a
request for a permit to remedy the required changes as follows:
L The visual unit between Operating Rooms 1 & 2 in the Chird floor hospiYal above the scrLib sink
will need to be increased. A new Wheelock 75 candela visual unit(RSS-24MCC-FR)will be
added and will connect to Notification Appliance Circuit(NAC) Panel#8, circuit l. Refer to
attached voltage drops.
2. A new Wheelock 75 candela visual unit (RSS-24MCC-FR)will be installed between Operating
Rooms 3 & 4 in the third floor hospital above the scrub sink. This device will connect to the visual
circuit in the area, NAC Panel #8, circuit 1. Refer to attached voltage drops.
3. The visual unit between Operating Rooms 6 & 7 in Yhe third floor Surgeiy Center above the scrub
sink will need to be increased. A new Wheelock 75 candela visual unit(RSS-24MCGFR) will be
added and will connect to NAC Panel #2, circuit 3. Refer to attached voltage drops.
4. A new Wheelock 75 candela visual unit (RSS-24MCC-FR)will be installed between Operating
Rooms 8 & 9 in the third floor Surgery Center above the scrub sink. This device will connect to
the visual circuit in the area,NAC Panel#2, circuit 3. Refer to attached voltage drops.
5. The first floor computer/wod<room off of corridor 135 in the hospital requires a notification
device. A ceiling mounted Wheelock 75 candela chime/strobe(CH90-24MCGFW) will be
installed in this room. The new device will connect to NAC Panel#5, circuits 1 and 3, which can
be accessed in the reception I01 southeast of the computer room.
Attached you will fiud battery calculations and voltage drops on Notification Appliance CircuiY Panels
#2, #5 & #8 along with cut sheets for both the Wheelock RSS-24MCC_FR Visual Unit and the
Wheelock CH90-24MCC-PR.
If you have any questions please feel fiee to give me a call.
Thank yoa for your time.

dBA @ 10 ft method. UL max current rating is the maximum RMS
reverberant current within the listed voltage range(16-33v for 24v
Peak dBA @ units). For strobes the UL max current is usually at
CH70/CH90 10 ft.anechoic the minimum listed voltage (16v for 24v units). For
sound level Min Max audibles the max current is usually at the maximum
83 52 58 listed voltage(33v for 24v units). For unfiltered FWR
ratings, see installation instructions.
Application
1. The chimes are factory set in single stroke(SS)mode. They can be changed to vibrating(VIB)mode with jumper on PC Board.SINGLE STROKE OPERATION:
The minimum input pulse duration must be at least 160 ms'bn"time and 160 ms'bff°time. The chime will only operate once each time it is pulsed. This mode is
recommended for coded systems.VIBRATING OPERATION:Continuous input voltage applied to the chime will activate the chime at one-second intervals.
2. The volume and tone controls have been adjusted at the factory to insure maximum dBA output. However, once the mode is selected, the installer may want to
fine-tune the signal to better suit the application.
3. Anechoic dBA is measured in an anechoic chamber with peak meter response.Reverberant dBA is rated per UL Standard 464.
4. Chime inrush current is 0.100 amps maximum with filtered DC input(0.140 amps with VRMS input voltage)with a time duration of 100 milliseconds.
