A,. Unlawful deposits: Subject to subsection C �ereof, it is unlawful for any person to litter,
track or deposit, or cause tQ be littered,tracked or depos�ted, sand,gravel,rocks, mud, dirt,
snow, ice, or any other debris or material upon any street, sidewa(k, a11ey or public pl�ce, or
any portian thereaf.
B. Notice; A6atement: The Director of Publie Works may notify and require any person who
violates or causes another to violate the provision of subsection A,hercof, or who has in the
Dir�ctor's employment a pecson who violates or eauses another to violate the same,top
remove such sand,gravel, rocks, mud dirt, snow, ice or any othcr dcbris or material within
twenty four(2�l) haurs aftex receipt nf said notice by t�t�e Director of Public Works. Iri the
ev�nt the person so not��ed does not comply with the notice within the periad of time herein
specified, the Director af Public Warks, or attaer autho�ized agent, may cause any such sand,
gravcl, rocl�s, mud, dirt, �now, ice, debris or any other material to be removed from any street
or alley at the expense of the notified.
C. Excep�ions: T,he provisions of subsection A hereof shall not be applicable:
1. Withirr the imrnediate area of any canstruction, rnaintenance or repair project of any
street or alley or of any wates main, sewer main, electricity line, gas line,telephone line
or any app�rtcnance thereto;
2. To deposits of sand, dirt or materials necessary for t1�e protectian af the public safcty; and
3. To public areas designated for the dumping or d�pasiti�g of said i2�ateriais.
D. Summons; Penaliy: As an alternative ta the notice far removal provided in subsection B
ab��e, a.ny
person who vivlates or eauses another to violate the same, may be issued a summons to
�ppear before the Municipal Court of the Town for s�.id violatio�s, and upon bcing foiind
guiltyo uf a violation hereunder�e punished as provided in Section 1-4-1 of this eode.
E. Notice; Fenalty: It is unlawful for any person ta fail or re�iise to comply F�vith t}ic notice of
the
Director of�ublie Works as provided in subsection B hereaf, aj�d atly such}�erson shall, in
addition to payment of t�e cxpcnse of ret�►aval incurred by the Director of Public Works, a:�
provided in subsectaon B hereaf,upon 6ein�? found guilty of a vioiatior�hereunder, be

If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Departr�lent Approval, Engineer's (Public Woz}cs)
review and approval, a Planning Department review flf Health Deparnnent review, and a review
by the Building Department, the estimated tirne for a toial revieva rnay take as long as thrce(3)
weeks.
All commercial (large ar sm�tll} and all multi-farnily permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum reguirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser�nount of
time. Hawever, if residential or sma.iler projects irnpact the various above mentioned
departznents«�ith regard to necessary review,these prajects may also ta.ke the three (3)week
period.
Every �itempt will be made by this departtnent to expedite this permit as soon as passible.

How i� relates to Buildi�g Permits
1. Fill out aur check list provided with a Buildin Permit A licatio .
If yes was answered to any of the c�uestions then a"Pt�blic Way" is required. You
can pick up an application at either CQmmunity Developrnent, located at 75 South
Fror�tage Road or Public VJorks, located at 1309 Va�l Valley Drive.
2. Notice sign offs for utility campanies. All utilities must fie(d verify (locate)
respective utilities prior tv signin� application. Soma u�ility companies re�uire up
ta 48 hou�s notice to schedule a locate.
3, A canstruction traffic cantroUstaging plan rnust be prepared on a separate sheet of
paper. An approved site plan may alsb be used. This plan wil� show locations of
all traffic control devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work zone, (area of
Construction, Staging, etc.). This plan will expire on Novernber Ist ar�d will need
to be resubmitted for approva� through the winter.
4. Skeich of work being performec� must be submitted indscating dixnensians (l�ength,
width and depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffc control plan or a site
plan for the job,
5. Subrnit completed application �o the Public Work's office for review. If required,
locates will be scheduled for the To�uvn of Vail Electricians and Irrigation crew.
The lacates ta.ke place in the morning, but may require up to 48 hours to perform.
6. The Public Work's Construction Inspeetor will review the applieatian and
apprave or disapprave the permit. You will be contacted as to the st�.tus and any
requirements that may be needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of
being received, but please allow up to one (1) we�ic to proeess.
7. As soon as the permit is process�d, a copy will be faxed to �on�umunity
Develapment allowing the`Building Permit" to be r�leased. P�ease do not
conf�se the "Puhlic Way Ferrra�t" with a"Building Permit" which is to do work
an �project itself.

The above process is for wark in a public way ONLY.
Fublic Way Permits are valid anly until November 15th
A new Public Way Perm:it is required each year if work is not complete.

Effectiwe Ja.nuary 1, 1999, the Town of Vail B�ilding Departnnent�as developed
the follovving procedures to ensur�that new construction sites have adequately
established proper drainage from building sites along and adjacent�o Town of Vail r�ads
or streets.
The Town of Vail Public Works Departmeni will be required to insp�ct and
approve drainage adjacent�o Tc�wn of Vail roads or streets anc� the installat�on of
temporary or perinanent c�lverts a� access points from the rQad or street onto the
construction site. Such approval mu�st he abtained pric�r ta any request for i�spection by
the �'own of Vail Building Department for faotings or temporary electrical or any other
inspection. Pl�ase call �.eonard Sandova� at 47�-21�8 to rsques�an inspection from the
�'ublic Works Department. A,1iow a rriinimum of 24 hour notice.
Also, the Town of Vail Public Warks Depart�xaent will be appraving all final
drainage and culvert installation with resulting road patching as necessary. Such
approval must be obtained prior to Final Certificate of�cc�an�y issuance.
