Frontage Road. Vail, Colorado 81657 Dear Martin, This letter is in regards to the upcoming Vai121 project and is a supplement to the Construction Documents prepared and submitted by 359 Design. Shaner Life Safety has been retained as the project Fire Protection Engineer. As part of the upcoming project, Vail 21 Ownership and Management are committed to completing life safety improvements as follows: 1. Replacement of the existing fire alarm system. This will occur in phases, with the first phase being a fire alarm panel replacement and a one-for-one replacement of existing peripheral devices. This will occur concurrently with the wark outlined in this building permit application. Additional phases will include the addition of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the units, improved occupant notification and upgraded device locations in common areas. The phased plan will be developed and presented to Vail Fire & Emergency Services (VFES) as part of the fire alarm permit application. 2. Repairs and maintenance of the fire protection system. This scope of wark will include the removal of existing 1-1/2" hose connections located in cabinets on the exterior walkways of each floor of the building. The 2-1/2" standpipe connections in the existing three stairwells will remain. The entire system will be tested in accordance with NFPA and VFES standards. The scope of work will be further detailed in the fire protection permit application to VFES. 3. Knox Box/Key improvements. The existing knox box contains an excessive number of keys. Management will be improving the situation by creating a master lcey, a copy of which will be provided in the knox box. Unnecessary keys will be removed. Further documentation will be provided to Vail Fire & Emergency Services in the form of permit applications, test and inspection reports and scope of work letters.
