I confirmed the construction use tax payment required before the building permit is issued is based on 50% of the total valuation of the project (less $10K) at 4%. Since the entire amount will be rebated, I further committed we will not audit this project or require a “truing up” to actual. Since Colorado sale and use tax is different from Wisconsin, I also confirmed the construction use tax applies only to Vail and purchases from elsewhere in Colorado could have county and/or state tax. To be sure no one charges any Vail tax on construction materials, they can use the building permit showing the use tax as evidence of payment and the supplier should honor that document. Judy G.
