Request for Meeting with CDOT - Clarification on CDOT Process for
Temporary use of I-70 ROW
Dear Martha:
On behalf of AMPH (Owner) and the project team, we are requesting a meeting in your
office with all the appropriate CDOT staff to discuss the proposed project plan and the
CDOT processes for authorization for the temporary use of a small portion of the I-70
ROW. Please see the attached document for details on both of these elements.
We understand that this type of temporary ROW use could include the need for lease
agreements and associated environmental clearances. However, we respectfully request
that CDOT consider the possibility of not having lease agreements for this project. The
main problem is the time that it would take to complete the environmental and lease
process. The project team had originally intended to start construction in April 2014.
Rather, a set of CDOT special use permits could be used to specify specific terms and
conditions required by CDOT. The specific characteristics of this project support this
request. The overall work effort would be a relatively short duration. The crane boom
would not overhang any I-70 ramp or through lanes. The construction materials transfer
area would occur entirely off the South Frontage Road travel lanes. The owner is willing to
pay CDOT an amount that would be roughly equivalent to the lease costs. Thank your for
considering the possibility.
Sincerely,
—5 /'`z'"1'l
