A. Unlawfu�deposits: Subject to subsection C thereof, it is unlawfu�for any person to litter,
track or deposit, or cause to be littered,trac�Ced or depasited, sand, gravel, rocks,mud, dirt,
snow, ice, or any other debris ar material upon any street, sidewalk, alley or public place, or
any partion thereof.
B. Notice; Abatement: 'The Director of Public Works may notify and requi�e any person who
violates or causes another to violate the provisian of subsection A hereof, or who Yias in the
Director's employment a person who vio�ates or causes another to violate the same, top
remave such sand, gravel, rocks, mud, dirt, snow, �ce or any other debris or material within
twenty four(24)hours after receipt of said notice by the Directar of Public Works. In the
event the person so notified does not comply with the notice within the period of tinne herein
specified, the Director of Public Works,or other authnrized agent,may cause any sueh sand,
gravel, rocks, mud, dirt, snow,ice, debris or a,ny other materia�to be rernoved from any street
or all�y at the expense of the natified.
C. Exceptions: The provisions of subsection A hereof shatl not be applicabie:
I. Within tiie immediate area of any construction, maintenance or repair project of any
street or alley or af a�y water rnain, sewer main, eleciricity line, gas line,telephot�e line
or any appurtenance thereto;
2. To deposits of sand, dirt or materials necessary for the protection of the public safety; and
3. To public areas designated for the dumping or depositing of said materials.
D. 5ummons; Penalty: As an altexnative to the notice for removai prov4ded in subsection B
above, any �
person who violates ar causes another to viola,te the same, rnay�e issued a summons to
appear before the Municipal Caurt of the Town for said violations, at�d upon being found
guilty of a viofation hereunder be punished as provided in Section 1-4-1 of this code.
E. Notice;. Penaiiy: It is unlawful for any person to fail or refusa to comply with the notice of
the
Director of Public Works as pcovided in subsectian B hereof,and any sueh person shall, in

How it relates to Buiiding Perrnits
1. Fill out onr check list provided with a Buildin�Permit A�lication.
If yes was answered to any of the questions then a"Public Way" is required. You
can pick up an a�plication at either Community Dev�lopment, located at 75 South
Frantage Road or Public Works, lacated at 1349 Vail �alley Drive.
2. Notice sign offs for utility companies. AlI utilities must field verify(locate)
respective utilities prior tQ signing application. 5on�e utility com�anies require up
to 48 hours notice to scheduIe a locate.
3. A constructian traffic controUstaging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of
paper. An approved site plan may also be used. Thas pIan will show loca.ti�ns of
aIl tr�,ff1C COnt�'O� deV]CeS �5ign5, cones, �tc.) and the work zone, (area of
Construction, Staging, etc.). This plan will expire on November lst an� will need
to be resubmitted for approval through the winter.
4. Sketch of wor�C being pez�formed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length,
width and depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control pla� or a site
pian far the job.
5. Submit completed application to the Public Work's office far review. If required,
locates will be scheduled far the Town of Vail Electricia.ns and Irrigation crew.
The locates take place in the morning, but rmay require up to 48 hours to perForm.
' 6. The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and �
approve or disapprove the permit. You wil� be contacted as to the status and any
requirerrients that may be needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of
being received, but please allow up to one (1) week ta process.
7. As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will he faxed to Community
Development allawing the `Building Fermit" to be released. Alease d4 not
confuse the"Public Way P�rmit" with a`Building Permit" which is to do work
on a�roject it5elf
NOTE:
The above process is for work in a public way ONLY.
Pub�ic Way Permits are vatid only until Navem�er I5�'.
