Amendment to the 2002 N.E.C. Town of Vail Ordinance 4. Series of 2005
❑ Overhead services are not allowed in the Town of Vail.
❑ Underground services sha//be in conduit (PVC) from the uti/ity transformer to the electric meter, main
disconnect switch, and to the frst electrical distribution circuit breaker panel.
o The main disconnect switch shall be readi/yaccessib/e,andlocated ne>R to the meter on the eMerior wall of
the structure. All underground conduits are required to be inspeded before back-flling the trench.
❑ In multi-family dwelling units, no electrical wiring orfeeder cables shail pass from one unitto another. Common
walis and spaces are exempt.
❑ NM Cable (Romex) can be used on/y in sing/e and mu/ti-fami/y dwe//ings net exceeding 3 stories,
Type NM cannat be used in any bui/ding mixed with Type A,B.E,F,H,I,M&5 occupancies.
❑ A/uminum conductorssmaller than size #8 are not permitted with the Town of Vail.
TOWN OF VAIL ELECTRICAL PERMIT GUIDELINES
❑ All installations of exterior hot tubs or spa's require a DR6 approval from planning. This application will
not be accepted without a copy of the DRB approval form attached (if applicable).
o If this permit is for installation of an exterior hot tub or spa on a new elevated platform or deck over
30" above grade, you must also obtain a building permit.
o If this permit is for installation of an e�erior hot tub or spa on any existing deck or elevated platform,
a structural engineer must review the existing condition and verify that it will support the added
concentrated load. Please provide a copy of the structural engineers wet stamped letter or drawing
with this application.
o If this is a remodel in a multi-family building with a homeowners association, a letter of permission
from the association is required.
o If this permit is for a commercial space, two (2) sets of stamped drawings are required. E/ettrita/
one-/ine and pane/schedu/es a�e�equired if/oad is added or distributinn is a/te�ed.
