Amendment to the 2002 N.E.C. Town of Vail Ordinance 4. Series of 2005
Overhead services are not allowed in the Town of Vail.
Underground services have to be in conduit (PVC) from the transformer to the electric meter, main disconnect
switch and to the flrst electrical distribution circuit breaker panel.
The main disconnect switch shall be located next to the meter on the exterior wall of the structure easily
accessible.
All underground conduits are required to be inspected before back-filling the trench.
In multi-family dwelling units, no electrical wiring or feeder cables shall pass from one unit to another. Common
walls and spaces are accepted.
NM Cable (Romex) is not allowed in commercial buildings or structures exceeding three (3) stories.
No use of aluminum wire smaller than size #8 will be permitted with the Town of Vail.
TOWN OF VAIL ELECTRICAL PERMIT GUIDELINES
All installations of exterior hot tubs or spa's require a DRB approval from planning. This application will
not be accepted without a copy of the DRB approval form attached (if applicable).
If this permit is for installation of an exterior hot tub or spa on a new elevated platform or deck over
30" above grade, you must also obtain a building permit.
If this permit is for installation of an exterior hot tub or spa on any existing deck or elevated platform,
a structural engineer must review the existing condition and verify that it will support the added
concentrated load. Please provide a copy of the structural engineers wet stamped letter or drawing
with this application.
If this is a remodel in a multi-family building with a homeowners association, a letter of permission
from the association is required.
o If this it is for a commercial space, two (2) seb of stamped drawings are required.

lures, thus "unloading ' the boiler to a con'

SYSTEM LOOK LIKE?
The standard ndustrial solar system con-
sists ol several thousand medium tempera-
ture lat plate collectors manufactured by
American So ar Krng or Daystar, ground or
roof mounted, that provide thermal energy
to an industr al process. Normally, the sys-
tem can be lnstalled regardless of ocation
of the plant. Most olten sufficient room
exists on olant roofs to accommodate the
system. lf, however, adequate roof space is
not available (such as in the case of smaller
plants), adlacent and area can be used.

The system utilizes American Solar King hrgh
performance model SS-11 med um tempera'
ture flat plate collectors to satrsfy hot water
requirements of up to 20,000 gallons per day
at Provimi's Seymour. Wisconsin plant.
The eff ciency of thrs system, relatrve to the
exist ng energy system, w ll enable this one
plant to save about 88,200 gallons (2100 bar
rels) of oil per year, every year. At a cost of
approximately $1 .10 per gallon. this equates
to the replacement of over $97,000 worth of oi
in the first year. As oi prices escalate. cost sav,
ings to Provimi and revenues to the third party
system owner will increase proportionately.
Conservatively estimating the useiul life of the
system at twenty years, Dellt Blue-Provimi
could reduce its future oil reouirements bv
over 40.000 barrels.

The fol'lowing will serve to confirm our phone conversation of earlier
this date with regard to the subject project.
Enclosed you will find a copy of our .|984 Manual for Built-Up Roof
System and you attention is directed to specification FE-8 on Pa-de
50 which provides the necessary construction details for equ'ipment
or sign supports.
We regret the fact that we cannot accept your proposa] of scraping
the gravel back and s'imply nailing a 2"x4" to the plywood deck through
the roofing membrane. Although thjs is probably the easiest approach,it is not good roofing practice and wou'l d qu'ite probably lead to future
problems with the roofing system.
We would therefore require that the membrane be cut out down to the
plywood deck and then follow the details found in FE-8.
Furthermore, the terms of the guarantee requjre that the above roof
nndifications be accompl'i shed by an approved Manville appljcator and
we have included the following listing of some applicators in the
vicinjty of Vail.
