BUILDING PERMIT ISSUANCE TIME FRAME
If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Approval, Engineer's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Planning Department review or Health Department review, and a review
by the Building Depaftment, the estimated time for a total review will take as long as three (3)
weeKs.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser amount
of time. However, if residential or smaller projects impact the various above mentioned
departments with regard to necessary review, these projects may also take three (3) weeks to
review and approve.
Every attempt will be made by this department to expedite this permit as soon as possible.
I, the undersigned, understand the plan check procedure and time frame. I also understand
that if the permit is not picked up by the expiratiop date, that I must still pay the plan check fee
and that if I fail to do so it may affect future permits that I apply for.

PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT PROCESS
How it relates to Building Permits:
1) Fill out our check list provided with a buildino permit aoplication.
lf yes was answered to any of the above questions then a "Public Way" is
required. You can pick up an application at either Community Development,
located at 75 S. Frontage Boad or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valley Drive.
Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utilities must field verify (locate)
respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up
to a 48 hour notice to schedule a locate.
A construction traffic control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet
of paper.An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations
of all traffic control devices(signs, cones, etc..) and the work zone, (area of
Construction, Staging, etc..). This plan will expire on Oct. 1Sth. and will need to
be resubmitted for approval through the winter.
Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length,
width & depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site
plan for the job.
Submit completed application to the Public Works's office for review. lf required,
locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and lrrigation crew. The
locates take place in the morning but, may require up to 48 hours to perform.
The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and approve
or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the status and any that may
needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, 6ut please
allow up to one week to process.
As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to Community
Development allowing the "Building Permit'to be released. Please do not confuse
the "Public Way Permit" with a "Building Permit" to do work on a project itself.
NOTE:
* The above. process is for work in a public way only.* Public Way Permits are valid only until November 1Sth.* A new Public Way Permit is required each year if work is not complete.

developed the following procedures to ensure that new construction
sites have adeguately established proper drainage from buildingsites along and adjacent to Town of Vail roads or streets.
The Town of Vail Public Works Department will be required, toinspect and approwe drainage adjacent to Town of Vail roads orstreets and the installation of temporary or permanenl culverts at
access points from the road or street on to the construcf-ion site.
Such approval- must be obtaineci prior to any request for inspection
by the Town of VaiI Building Department for footings or temporaryelectrical or any other inspection. Please call 4'l 9-2L60 to
request an j-nspection from the Pub1ic Works Department. All-ow a
mi-nimum of 24 hour notice.
Also, the Town of vail Public Works Department will be approvingall final drainage and culvert installat.ion wi-th resulting roadpacching as necessary. Such approval must be obtained prior toFjnal Certificate of Occupancy issuance.

Gentlemen:
I have reviewed the calculations of Trus Joist MacMiLlan for
the holes in the floor joists above the laundry and basement-
AII the joists spanning from the stair wall to the crawlspace
must be repaired. Glue and nail a 57$tr 'tUr! shaped piece of
plywood each side of the pipe and then add an 1L'7/8" x 9
piece of 5/8" plywood to both sides of the pipe on each side
of the joist glued and nailed to the TJr flanges. At the
longer cantilevered joists (approximately 18" with a 2t-6
cantilever) there is a 3" diameter hole at the center of the
span that should be reinforced with 2 layers of 5/8" plywood.
Place a metal strap with 2 screws at any flanqe that had been
cut. At the joist with the bottom flange cut completely'
support the whole length of the joist on the 2 x 4 stud wall
befow.
At the connection at detail 10, weld both steel plates
together and place all 6 bolts through the glu-1am beam.
The HL79 angles and bolts appear to be installed correctl-y at
the (2\-L2" micro lam and (3)-12" micro lam beams.
