Installation Precautions: These instructions must be used as a supplement to the instructions supplied with the gas log set. Follow the gas log instructions supplied by the manufacturers on the setting of the burner pan, log basret grate, burner media (sand), ember material and the logs placement. Please follow these instructions on the connection of the inlet line to the gas valve and then to the burner pan assembly. lf this fireplace installation has glass doors, only operate the fireplace with gtass doors in the tully open position. This remote pilot kit contains a valve, pilot assembly, conneclor that is certified by A.G.A. Installation Instructions: This section is for installing valve kit with preinstalled tog set:1. Make sure all gas flow is completely turned off to the gas log set. Make sure you have a certified and approved shut-otf within six fe€t of the fireplace, or what ever the local inspection authority requires. 2. Remove all logs and basket grate and set aside.3. Disconnect the 3/8' Flared fitting at the burner pan from the inlet gas supply (Do not remove the orifice at the burner pan).4. Locate the MVK valve kit in the right or left front corner of the lire box as far fonruard as possible (See Figure #1)5. Bend inlet gas supply line and connect the 3/8" flare fitting to MVK 3/8'inlet connector (Fitting with Colored cap). (Use caution not to kink the line when bending),6. Bend 12' stainless flex line and connect to valve outlet then connect the other end to 3/8' flare fitling on burner pan (Caution do not let gas inlet line to the MVK or gas outlel line from the MVK be placed in or over the burner pan).7. Most burner pans have predrilled holes located on the back of the burner pan about 4' from the right side of lhe burner pan. These holes are for mounting the pilot if these holes are not in the pan or if the MVK is being located on the left side of the burner pan you will need to drill (2) 3/16' holes to mount lhe pilot. Measure over 4' and use the pilot bracket as a template lo locate where to drill see (Figure #3 & Figure #4).8. Mount pilot assembly to burner pan with (2) #8 screws as shown in (Figure #2). Bend 1/4" slainless pilol tubing from pilot assembly to MVK and connect pilot fitting to valve. (Use caution when bending pllot tubing not to kink the tubing or locate the tuOing In or over the burner pan). 9. lf the MVK is located on the left side of the fireplace the on/off rocker switch will need to be moved to the right side of the MVK.10. Turn on gas supply and check all connections for leaks using soapy water solution.11. Follow valve pilot lighting instruclions. After pilot is lit check pilot fittings for leaks.12. Reinstall basket grate and logs.13. Install Damper stop (supplied with this valve kit) (Ihis allows damper to remain slighily open to allow pilot to vent) This section is for installing valve kit with new tog set: 1. Make sure all gas flow is completely turned off to the fireplace. This installation should be installed including provisions for combustion and ventilation air, must conform with local codes or, in the absence of local codes, with the national fuel Gas Code, ANSI 2223 latest addition. 3' This oroduct must be on a gas supply line that is less lhan 1/2 psig and with an individual manual shut 4. Nevei'operate this new system with the glass fireplace enclosures (doors) in the ctosed position. OPERATING INSTHUCTIONS HOWTO LIGHTTHE PILOT 't . To light pilot remove the screened cover and slightly push in on the Valve knob and turn to the PILOT setting. Note: Valve Knob cannot be turned lrom 'PILOT' to "OFF" unless the Valve knob is pushed in slightly, Do not lorce.2. Push the Valve Knob fully in and at the same time place a match or butane lighter at pilot burner. Pilol will light, continue lo hold the Valve Knob in for at least 60 seconds. lf pilot does not stay tit, turn the Valve Knob to the "OFF' position. Wait 5 minutes and repeat the lighting instructions. (Note it may take a couple of tries tor the gas to push the air from the system)3. After 60 seconds release the Valve Knob, wait about 30 seconds then turn the Valve Knob to the "ON" position. lf the pilot goes out, tum the Valve Knob to the "OFF" position, stop and call your service technician or gas supplier. HOW TO TURN ON AND OFF 1 . The MVK has a rocker switch included with the system. Place the switch in lhe "O" position and this will ignite the main bumer. The MVK rocker switch can be located on the left or right side of the valve box .2. To tum the gas logs off, push the rocker switch to the " | " position. Pilot will remain lil.3. To turn the Pilot off, be sure the switch is in the ' | ' position, and slightly push in on the Valve Knob and turn the Valve Knob to lhe '.OFF' oosition. MAINTENANCE OF YOUR MVK SYSTEM 1 .
