Overhead services are not allowed in the Town of Vail.
Underground services shall be in conduit (PVC) from the utilitytransformer to the electric meter, main disconnect
switch, and to the first electrical distribution circuit breaker panel-
The main disconnect switch shall be readily accessible, and located next to the meter on the exterior wall of the
structure. All underground conduits are required to be inspected before back-filling the trench..
In multi-family dwelling units, no electrical wiring or feeder cables shall pass from one unit to another' Common walls
and spaces are exempt.
NM Cable (Romex) can be used only in single and multi-family dweltings. Type NM cannot be used in any
building mixed with Type A,B.E,F,H,I,M &S occupancies.
Aluminum conductors smaller than size #8 are not permitted-
TOWN OF VAIL ELECTRICAL PERMIT GUIDELINES
All installations of exterior hot tubs or spa's require a DRB approval from planning. This application will not be
accepted without a copy of the DRB approval form attached (if applicable).
lf this permit is for instaliation of an exterior hot tub or spa on a new elevated platform or deck over 30" above grade,
you must also obtain a building permit.
if ttris permit is for installation oi an exterior hot tub or spa on any existing deck or elevated platform, a structural
engineer must review the existing condition and verify that it will support the added concentrated load. Please provide
a copy of the structural engineers wet stamped letter or drawing with this application.
lf this is a remodel in a mulii-family building with a homeowners association, a lefter of permission from the association
is required.
lf this permit is for a commercial space, two (2) sets of stamped drawings are required. Electrical oneline and panel
schedules are required if load is added or distribution is altered.

As requested, Martin/Ivlartin klc has waluated Unit B 23 at the Vail East Condominiums in
Vail, Colorado for the proposed removal of a portion of the separatioo wall bctween the ftird
floor condominisms. The wall to be removed is construsted wift two rowe of 2x4 strds spaced
at 16" on center sh€athcd widr 5/8" fire ratcd grpsum board on each frce. There are also ligbt
gage diagonal lateral stsaps instdl€d to the sftds at the front (south) half of fte building There
arc no joists or beams supported by tlre soutb balf of the sepantion wall but at the back half
(north) of fie wall supporb fiioming for the loft. Based on fte abwe obscrvations and a brief
analysis, we have determined that tre south part of the separation wall may be rernwed provided
the following iterns acc maintainc&
. A portion of the separation wall mEr be rcrroved startiug atthe front (souft) wall of the
building to a locatiou approximately 20' north of the front wall. Tlrc remaining 22' of
wall must remain rs origiaally co$tnrsbd with no penetrations.
. Instrll a new @) l-314\11:118" Miqollam (M.L.) headq from the built up (5) 2x4 post
- located at the middle of the structure to thc built up (2) 2x4 post locatcd approximatoty 7'
to the north. The header slrould bc nryported by one trinmer sfird at each end md nailed
to the posts with Simpson LTP5 plates each side.

from east-west ridgp beam to the south exterior bearing wall to support the roofdeck at
