In September of 1991, the Vail Town Council adopted an ordinanoe which rcfilcts b Gonstuction ald
use of open heardr fircplaes within municipal boundarles. Sine that tme the ordinbne has
undergone numsous changes and rwlsions, strivlng for ompromise, yet effiectivenecs in addressing
t{re air quality issue. Thercfuie dre follwing criterh has been adopted:
o Constsuction of open heart{r wood burning fircplaes is no longer permitbd within Town of Vall
municipal bounparies.
Dwellino Units - Eadr new dwelling unit may contain:
One (1) EPA Phase II certified solid fuel burnlng dwice and no more t{ran trvo (2) gas appllances
(B vent)
OR
nilo (2) gas log fircplaces and no more dran hro (2) gas appliane fireplaces (B bent).
Restricted Dwellino Unlts - Each nw restrlcted dwelllng unit may oontain:
One (1) gas log firephe and not morc dran oip (1) gas applianoe fireplae.
Ammmodatiod Units - Each new acoommodaton unit may ontain:
One (1) gas log llrcplae or one (1) gas appliance fircplaoe.
