Asbestos testing and abatement protects workers, homeowners, neighbors and emergency services responders lrgm ex-
posure to harmiul asbestos. The Town ofVail asbestos abatement program is in addition to the State ofColorado's regu-
iations. It is your responsibility to be in compliance with the Sbte. Please contact the State directly for their requirements
at the contact info listed below.
When is asbestos testino reouired?g building projects disturbing more than these threshold levels of building materials require asbestos testing:
One- and Two-Family Dwellings: 30 square feet
All Others: 160 square feet
Asbestos testing resulb must be provided with your application for a building permit.

ment contractor. An asbestos abatement permit must be approved, and the clearance letter must be submitted to the
Town of Vail before the building permit will be issued

INTRODUCTION:
On March 31,2009 an inspection/survey was conducted and 3 bulk
samples were collected from:
The Manor Vail Lodge
595 E. Vail Valley Drive

The purpose of the inspection/survey was to locate and sample
suspected Asbestos containing materials that might be present in the area of
the Unit that is planned for selective interior renovation.
The inspection was made, and the samples were collected by John R.
Peterman, an A.H.E.R.A. and State of Colorado Certified Asbestos
Inspector. Great cae was taken during the inspection and sampling to be as
accurate as possible. It should be noted that minimal damage was done to
the existing building sructures during the inspection so there is no
documentation for unseen conditions or stored items.
All samples were analyzed by DCM Science Lab in Wheatidge, CO.
This laboratory is deemed "Proficienf in ttre E.P.A Quality Assurance (QA)
progrirm for the determination of asbestos in bulk materials, and is
accredited by the American Hyglene Association (AHA).
SAMPLING PROTOCOL:
A random sampling scheme was used to sample the suspect materials that
were discovered- If during any funre dernolition or renovation work,
suspect material is discovered that hasn't bee,n sampled and would be
disturbed- work should be halted until the material has been tested.

RENOVATIOI\ AREA DESCRIPTION:
Unltltz77 is planned for selective interior renovation. The interior walls are
covered in sheetock with atroweled-on texnne. The ceilings are covered in
sheefiock like the walls, and the floors are covered in carpe! and ceramic
tiles. The heating is provided by a fireplace, and a base board hearing
system.
CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS:
Laboratory analysis of the composite sheetrock samples, indicate that
Asbestos was detected in all three bulk samples. However, The Asbestos
content, of the positive samples, was less than the Regulatory Limit (Greater
than 1% Asbestos). The Asbestos conten! of the positive samples, was
verified by the required Point Count Analysis.
