The Design Review Board meets on the lst and 3rd Wednesdays of each month, A complete appiication
form and all accorr�panying material mu5� be accepted by the Community Development Department prior
to application d�adlines. A schedule af D�B meetings and associated appli�ation deadlines may be found

Review Criteria
The proposal will be rev9ewed for compliarace with the Design Guidelines as s�t fc�rth in Ti�le 12 (Zoning
Regulations) and Title 14 (DevelQpment Standards) af the Town af Vail Municipal Code.
Desiqn Review Board Meetina Reauirements
For new construction ar�d additions, the applicant rnust stake and tape the project site to indicate
property lines, proposed buiidings and huilding corners. All trees to be removed must be taped. The
app[icant must ensure that staking cione during the winter is not buried by snow. Afl site tapings and
staking must be completed prior to the day of the DRB meeting.
The applicant, or their representative, shall be present at the Design Review Board Hearing. Applicants
who fai! to appear before the Qesign �eview Board on their scheduled mee�ing date and who have nat
asked in advanc� that discussion on their item be postponed, will have their items removed from the DRB
agenda �ntil suc�h time as the itEm has been republished.
If tE�e DR6 approves the application with conditions or modifications, a11 conditions of ap�roval must be
r�salved prior to the issuance of a b�silding permit.
S�aff Approval
The Administrakor (a member of the planning staf� may review and approve aesign Re�iew applications,
approve with certain modifications, d�ny the application, vr refer the applicatian to the Design Revieuv
Board for a decision. All staff approvals are reviewed by the Design Review Board and any sta�Ff decision
is subject to final approval by the DRB.

This letter is being sent to infor�n yot� that staff has reviewed your application for a new awning sign for
Pla#a Jewelers located at 183 Gore Creek Drive Unit 6. Staff has fo�nd several items which need to be
addressed prior to any approval being granted for your new awning sign. Staff camments are as
foElows:
• Your location currently has several window signs. These are not included in your application
and to th� besi of our records it does nat appear you have approva! for these signs. Pleas�
submit dimensioned drawings for af! your window signage. Window signage is regulated by
Section 11-6-3(1)d of the Town af Vail Sign Code. I have attached this portion of the Code for
yaur re#erence.
• It did not appear that you have a business operation sign or an open/closed sign. The Sign
Cocfe does have some provisions for tf�is type of signage under Sections 11-6-3{1)e, Business
Qperation 5igns, and 11-6-3(1)f, Open/Closed Signs. I have attached these portions of the
Code for your reference.
• Your application states that yau wish to maintain the existing light fixture (flood light} on the
building. The existing light fixture do�s not meet the requirements of the Cflde. You may
choose to rernove the light completely or you may choose to rep[ace it wifh at fixture which
meets the Code.
• Yr�ur appkication did not include a letter from the owner granting permission for your propased
�wning sign. �'lease submit a letter from #he o+nlner�ranting you permission t� install an awning
an �he exterior of the building.

1'rimary/Secondai-y, Residential Cluster, Low Density Multi-F'amily and Medium �
Density Multi-Farnily Zone Distnct, as ���ell as all special development districts
which have any of the above refere�aced zone districts as the underlying zoning.

T�e per�a�ty for violating this subsection shall be as prcavided in Section I-41 of �
