That said, I do not have objections to the change you have proposed tothe western facing windows and finish. I again wishthat you had spoken with me about this concept when you first thoughtof it as it would have potentially avoided the disagreement we now face. Paul, you indicated in your reply to a few of my questions a belief that inthe past I have not minded what you do with yourhalf of the duplex as long as I was not required to match it. With allrespect, while I have tried to be accommodating to the many changes you have requested over theyears that there havebeen instances of me not only saying I would only approve one of yourprojects even if I was not required to match it, but also instances where you had to modify your project plans because eitherI or the Town of Vail believed that unless both units made the same change that the resulting ascetic would be lessideal that the existing building. For example, your desire to stucco a significant portion of the I-70 facing side of the duplex ā€” something that I did not wish to have doneon my side ā€” resulted in a change in plans so that much of the stuccoyou wanted to have on that face of the building was removed from the project plans that I eventually signed off on. Imake the point that while I appreciate your desire toupgrade the property, there are some things that I am unwilling tochange at this time. I also believe allowing you to proceedwith such a change on your half of the shared common wall duplex wouldjust not look as good as the existing structure as a result. So to be clear, at this time I do not plan on making any changes to thewindows or roofline of the I-70 facing side of my unitand I feel that the ascetic of this side of 1180 Casolar, which spans bothmy east half and your west half, look great as they are.Further, I think that if I did agree to a change in the roofline on your sideof the unit, even with written confirmation from theTown of Vail that I would not be required to match on my side, that theresulting look spanning that entire I-70 facing side of thebuilding would not be a good one. This includes how the property isviewed by anyone below, not just as what I can seelooking out my own window. While I am willing to accommodate a version of your proposed planswhich includes changes to the windows and siding on the western facing side of 1180 Casolar I cannot agree to the changes youhave proposed to the shared I-70 facingside of the building, including but not limited to any roofline changes onthat side of the building.
