General Information: This application is required for all proposals involving the addition of any floor area, including net
floor area and/or gross residential floor area (GRFA). This also includes proposals for `residential 250 additions' and
'interior conversions'. Applicable Vail Town Code sections can be found at www_vailgov.com under Vail Information —
Town Code Online. All projects requiring design review must receive apprgval prior to submitting a building permit appli-
cation. An application for Design Review cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community
Development Department, as outlined in the submittal requirements. The project may also need to be reviewed by the
Town Council and /or the Planning and Environmental Commission. Design review approval expires one year from the
date of approval, unless a building permit is issued and construction commences.

ARCHITECTURE i DESIGN i STRATEGY
PROJECT NARRATIVE
The project represented within this application is simply the addition of a new elevator to an existing resort in Vail.
The elevator is a 3 -stop elevator (main, second and third levels) to provide additional convenience and accessibility to the resort.
There currently is no elevator at this resort.
The height of the elevator structure is — primarily — driven by manufacturer recommendations for minimum height above the top of
the elevator cab both for servicing and for the safety of those who may need to service the elevator.
This proposed design works to address the following objectives:
1 Increase accessibility for the resort;
2 Architecturally integrate the proposed elevator structure with the existing stair structure;
3 Introduce a new glazing / opaque panel element for:
A Design purposes
I Thoughtfully and deliberately introduce and incorporate a more contemporary element into the existing building
vernacular — Kowneer storefront assembly with glazed and opaque elements.
B Protection of the landings at each level
I Weatherproof enclosure will increase the safety of resort guests at the landing area at each level.
4 This proposal intends to use the existing resort color and material schemes with complementary values. We propose no change to
the existing color scheme.
