I have been communicating, and working with J.P. In regards to correcting any and all conditions to the above listed residential home! The issues we have had to accommodate are for the repair of floor trusses in several locations, due to the need to remove sections of the floor trusses to allow for lighting, electrical, or any other reason for general construction of this home! J.P. and myself made the determining decision to replace some of these floor trusses completely with the addition of LVL joist to carry any and all tributary loads in theses location! Accompanying this letter I have included (2) LVL option for the replacement of any floor truss within the residence! I am also including an additional repair drawing for the repair of top chord sections due to any and all reasons for the removal or notching of any chords of the floor trusses! The findings of our observations and recommendations for the foundation design are presented in this report. We previously performed a subsoil study for design of foundations at the site and presented our findings in a report dated April 30, 2013, Job No. 113 062A. The proposed construction is similar to that discussed in our previous report. The building has been designed to be supported on spread footings using an allowable soil bearing pressure of 3,000 psf as recommmended in our previous report. On July 19 the foundation excavation was underway with silty sandy gravel and cobbles being encountered. On July 22, the excavation was essentially complete and had been cut in multiple levels from about 9 to 14 feet below the adjacent ground surface. The soils exposed in the bottom of the excavation consisted of relatively dense, silty sandy gravel and cobbles with small boulders. No free water was encountered in the excavation and the soils were slightly moist to moist. There were several very moist subgrade areas apparently due to recent rain. The soil conditions exposed in the excavation are consistent with those previously encountered on the site and suitable for support of spread footings designed for the recommended allowable bearing pressure of 3,000 psf. Loose and disturbed soils should be removed in the footing areas to expose the undisturbed natural coarse granular soils. The planned minimum 1 foot depth of free draining gravel can then be placed and compacted in the bottom of the excavation. Any water seepage into the excavation should be collected and diverted away from the footing areas and any softened soils and mud removed before concrete placement.
