Background
The project goal is to undergo testing at final construction to determine if the project meets code
requirements for air leakage (3ACH50). Code requirements allow for either pressurization or
depressurization to be used when determining code compliance. All units were tested utilizing
both pressurization and depressurization. The results from pressurization were consistently
preferable over depressurization. ACH50 results as determined by pressurizing each unit are
listed below.
Site Observations
To comply with RESNET sampling protocol, testing was completed on 10 randomly-chosen
units in a variety of conditions (i.e. firewall, unit type, and number of exterior walls). Outside air
temperature during the test was approximately 55°F. Construction was finished. All windows
were installed and latched shut. The blower door test was performed in the entrance door to the
units.
