Mayor Daly,
Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to meet yesterday. As promised, below is a list of
recommended actions you can implement on your property to harden your home against wildfire.
1. Remove two spruce trees on South side of home.
a. Although these trees are quite healthy, their proximity to the structure presents some
concern.
2. Install non-combustible barrier from foundation wall out,approximately 12-18".
a. River rock and/or crushed gravel are common choices.
3. Install non-combustible barrier where the rear deck meets the hillside.
a. Again, 12-18"from the edge of the deck would be ideal.
4. Maintain clean gutters throughout the fire season
5. As part of long-term planning,consider non-combustible decking material.
As I mentioned during our discussion, your home sits at mid-slope...a fact that we must incorporate into
our risk assessment. However, with a few simple steps,I truly feel you can make some real progress in
lowering your overall risk.
Should need any more information or have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Thank you,
Anders Hendrickson
