Mounting heights far fire alarm notification devices should be under the specifications of the Fire Protection Engineer(FPE) and subject to review by the AHJ. Smoke control and smoke management systems must be reviewed by the FPE. 01330 1.01 A Fire alarm and fire sprinkler submittals must be reviewed and stamped by the FPE prior to submittal to the AHJ. 01330 1.04 A 1 Shop drawings are required for fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems. Fire suppression systems for commercial kitchens require shop drawings. Smoke management systems require shop drawings. 01550 A site safety management plan is required including topics regulated under the International Fire Code including but not limited to fuel storage, site access, emergency medical rescue plan, communications plan, HAZ COM, tower crane operations and lighting, temporary power, Hot Work Permits, and similar processes and procedures. The general contractor will submit the site safety plan. 01630 Product substitutions on fire and life safety systems shall not be made without prior approval from the FPE and the AHJ. 01788 The fire alarm contractor must provide a NFPA 72 Certificate of Completion. The fire sprinkler contractar must provide a NFPA Above Ground Materials and Test form. The underground contractor must provide a NFPA certificate for the fire mains, including the flush test. 02510 Fire mains and fire hydrants are regulated by the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District and Vail Fire & Emergency Services. State and local fire protection contractor registrations are required for the contractors. Specifications shall meet or exceed TOV, ERWSD and NFPA standards. 2.10 A The center of the discharge snoot of fire hydrants shall be a minimum of 36 inches above finish grade. ERWSD specifications require "mountain hydrants." 2.10 B Fire hydrant extensions shall meet ERWSD and VFES standards. 2.04 A Type K copper service lines with compression fittings is not allowed. 2.12 Inspection of underground water lines may not be delegated to the water district without their permission. 3.01 C Blasting permits are required. Contact the Fire Dept. 30 days in advance. D OSHA compliance with trenching is a minimum standard. Excavations over eight feet require an engineers review and priar approval from the Fire Dept. 3.16 Flushing shall be witness by the Fire Dept. Fire Prevention Bureau. A written plan shall be furnished 10 days prior to the desired date of the test. All natural gas lines to emergency generators shall be separate and tagged. 05515 Ladders for Fire Dept use (fiXed) shall comply with VFES specifications. Capacity shall exceed 6001bs., rungs shall be a minimum 3/4 inch diameter; distance from the wall shall be at least ] 1 inches, and beams shall be a minimum 2 inch. Contact the Fire Dept. for more details. 06070 Field applied fire retardant to wood products is not acceptable. 06401 Exterior wood is subject to detailed review. PVC trim requires submittal of detailed materials data sheet. 06402 Agreement on the Administrative Modification to allow use of wood on the exterior has been reached. A revised copy should be submitted for review and signature.. D. The Interiar Designer shall comply with IBC and NFPA standards with respect to flame spread. 07112 Hot work permits are required. 10305 Gas valve keys are required within 6 feet of the gas valves. 10502 Fire extinguishers shall comply with NFPA 10 as a minimum standard. 14200 Elevators shall comply with Northwest Council of Governments (NWCOG), ANSI , TOV, and VFES standards. Training far elevator rescue shall be provided to the VFES personnel at no costs to the Town. 14200 F. Elevator phone shall comply with Vail Public Safety Communications Center and VFES standards. A written plan is required. J. 1. The elevator contro] and sequence plan shall be submitted as a separate package and is subject to review by NWCOG and VFES. K. 2. The elevator control and sequence plan shall be submitted as a separate package and is subject to review by NWCOG, FPE, and VFES. 2.11 Single phase and surge protection is required. 14560 F 1. Fire sprinkler protection for linen and trash chutes shall be included in the fire protection scheme and reviewed and stamped by the FPE prior to submittal to the AHJ. VFES is requesting a self closing door on the bottom of the shaft. 15500 1.03 A 1. Specifications exempt Shop Drawing details for piping, fittings, hangers, supports and standard valves. Fire sprinkler shop drawings should include these elements. 2.02 B Automatic ball drips do not operate under temperatures under ambient winter conditions. (< 32 degrees F.). 2.06 Alarm check valves are subject to review but not approved at this time. Isolation and vibration grommets shall be provided. 2.09 A. Access shall be provided to allow operation with a"gloved hand." 2.11 C 3. Incomplete specification. 2.12 A. Two inlets to FDC's are inadequate. Submit under FPE's plans. 2.15. A. The number of spare fire sprinkler heads shall comply with NFPA 13. 2.17 A. Fire extinguishers shall comply with NFPA 10 as a minimum standard. 15600 Temporary firing of boilers will require a written plan from the Engineer of Record , special inspection, and agreement from both the Town of Vail Building Dept and Fire Dept prior to test firing. Continued operation Fuel oil day storage tanks subject to IFC and EPA regulations. Submit stamped plans and Operational Procedures manual.. 15880 Stair and elevator pressurization system requires stamped plans under separate submittal after review by FPE. Commissioning by third party with credentials suitable to the TOV is required. Detailed commissioning plan is required. 16050 MC cable is not generally approved. Limited exceptions may be made for installations within 3 linear feet of the enclosure box by expressed permission only. Aluminum wiring is subject to strict inspection and regulations per the NEC. 16200 Submit detailed plans and specification for the emergency generator under separate package. Specify circuits on em vs standby power. All submittals are subj ect to review. 16401 Grounding to water mains is prohibited by NFPA 13. Submit details to show compliance with rules regarding grounding rods. 16402 Submit plans to show compliance with Ord. 1, Series 2007 regarding Public Safety Communications. Detailed plans are required from stamped and registered engineers. 16700 The fire alarm and detection system shall comply with Town of Vail Fire Alarm Standards.
