General Information: This application is required for all proposals involving minor changes to buildings and site improve-
ments, such as roofing, painting, window additions, landscaping, fences, retaining walls, etc. Applicable Vail Town
Code sections can be found at www.vail oq v.com under Vail Information -Town Code Online. All projects requiring de-
sign review must receive approval prior to submitting a building permit application. An application for Design Review
cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development Department, as outlined in
the submittal requirements. The project may also need to be reviewed by the Town Council and/or the Planning and
Environmental Commission. Design review approval expires one year from the date of approval, unless a building per-
mit is issued and construction commences.

Dear Design Review Board,
AG Roofing Company would like to perform re-roof on the Upper and Lower metal roofs
on the North-East side of 1404 Moraine Drive, in Vail, CO 81657.The current roof has a leak on
the upper metal roof that caused damage to the lower kitchen/dinning room. AG Roofing
proposes removing the old copper shingles to replace them with 24 gauge painted metal panels
to help with proper water flow. AG Roofing would remove the old shingles, and prepare the
area for new material. AG would then provide and install new Versa Shield and Carlisle WIP 300
ice and water shield to the flat roof area and run it up the turret wall, these materials would
make it a Class A roof. AG Roofing would then install new 16 OZ Copper flashing to all required
areas, along with the new Standing Seam panels. The color would be Dark bronze by CMG
metals, this best matches weathered copper. This roof is approximately 7 SQ.
AG believes the lower roof should be replaced as well due to dips on the shingles
adjacent to the leak area. This roof would be replaced with the same technique and material as
the upper roof. This roof is approximately 1 SQ.

Dear Martin,
I would like to apologize for the concerns and mistakes caused at 1404 Moraine Drive in
Vail. I was following Eagle County guide lines (40%of roof needed for permit) and since I was
not aware of the differences, I did not take into account Vails' regulations. I started the work
without the permit and I take full responsibility. The leak was very concerning at the time, so I
had my guys start as soon as they could. As for the colors, I gave the home owner options for
installing painted panels and the option for making the panels in a 16 OZ copper. Painted metal
was chosen by the homeowner. We are now aware of all the requirements from the Town of
Vail, and in the future you can be assured that we will be following all rules and regulations in
order to properly execute our work. Once again I apologize for my mistake; I have talked with
my company to assure this does not happen again.
