Materials can be submitted either digitally or on paper. Whichever method you select all materials shall be submitted in that format throughout the Building Review process. The Town encourages you to consider using the submittal of digital documents and plans. If submitting digitally all elements of the application shall be uploaded to the Town's share file site as a complete set of materials. If submitting paper see # of Plan Sets (paper only) in the guidelines set on page one of this form. Paper, Format & Scale ❑ Drawings must be submitted on minimum 11"x17" or larger size paper. 24"x36" is recommended for most projects ❑ All sheets in a drawing set must be the same size and sequentially labeled and dated. ❑ North arrow and the scale [standard architectural or engineering scales (1/4"=1', etc)]. ❑ Title block with project name, project address and legal description. ❑ Cover sheet must be provided and include ❑ Square footage of each use (garage & dwelling) ❑ Index of plan sheets ❑ Special inspections annotated to include soils, structural, blower door test, air balancing, EFAS ❑ Codes structure has been designed to ❑ Add Fire Sprinkler & Alarm Systems Professional Seal(s) ❑ Drawings and calculations prepared by a professional engineer/architect licensed to practice in the state of Colorado must be signed and sealed (original stamp/signature not required) ❑ All structural plans, details and calculations to be prepared by a professional engineer licensed in the state of Colorado. ❑ Exception: If the design is able to comply with prescriptive provisions of the 2015 IRC. Provide a detail on the riser height and tread depth for stairs, and height for guards and handrails ❑ Show location of Fire Rated Assemblies & Fire Rating Roof Plan ❑ Skylight view showing roof pitch & drainage ❑ Roofing material identified (must be Class A, and asphalt shingles must be minimum 300 lbs per square). ❑ Location of Skylights Elevations ❑ Show all sides in relation to grade. ❑ Show all proposed exterior finish materials, guardrails, windows, doors, and architectural features. Electrical Plans ❑ Floor plans showing ❑ Smoke/CO detector and lighting locations ❑ Lighting & switching device locations (including exterior) ❑ Meter & sub panel locations to onclude SRE ❑ Electrical load calculations Plumbing ❑ Plumbing layout to be on architectural floor plan ❑ Identify fixtures to be on a backwater valve ❑ Radon piping plan to include cross section Additions & Alterations ❑ Shall require the same submittal criteria as new construction. ❑ Alterations plans need to reflect work being done in compliance with the Town's codes and ordinances. Use this sub- mittal checklist as a guide. ❑ If your alteration is an "exact" replacement for windows/doors, re -roof, water heater or portable hot tub, you may use the expedited permit process for your project. DRB Approval: Required for any projects that involve ANY exterior work or increase in Gross Residential Floor Area (GRFA) must first apply to, and be approved by, the Design Review Board (DRB) PRIOR to applying for a building permit. Examples of exterior work: re -painting, additions, re -siding, window replacement. Energy Code Compliance Form: Available at http://www.energycodes.gov Will -Call Inspection: The Town of Vail charges $5.00 on each building, plumbing, mechanical and permit for this service. When calling for your inspection, simply state that you would like "Will Call" and leave the best con- tact name and number. The inspector will call you on his or her way to your site. Improvement Location Certificate (ILC): A survey confirming foundation location and final building height (framing) must be submitted and reviewed prior to your framing inspection (for new construction and additions). Fireplaces: The Town of Vail has adopted restrictions on the number and types of fireplaces. Each new dwelling unit may contain either: One (1) EPA Phase II wood burning fireplace and unlimited gas fireplaces; OR Two (2) gas log fireplaces and unlimited gas fireplaces. Public Way Use Permits: Required for new construction, utility work, work in or connecting to the right-of-way (such as driveway pans), staging on the street, etc. Revocable Public Way Use Permits are required for all private improvements permanently located in the right-of-way (such as retaining walls, trees, etc). Please contact Public Works at (970) 479-2158 for any questions or to obtain a permit. Fire Alarms and Sprinklers: A monitored fire alarm or sprinkler system may be required. Contact the Fire De- partment directly at (970) 479-2252 to discuss your project and what systems may be required. The balance of the Permit Fees are collected upon issuance of the permit. Instructions for calculating permit fees (see page 4 for alarm and sprinkler permits) 1. Determine the valuation (labor & materials) 2. Using the total permit valuation, calculate the Permit Fee using the tables below 3. Calculate the Plan Review Fee (% of the permit fee for the appropriate work type: building, mechanical, etc.) 4. Calculate the Construction Use tax (see formula below) 5. Calculate the Recreation Fees (building permits adding new square footage onlx) 6. Add $5.00 for Will Call Inspection* ($5.00 per work type i.e. building, electrical and mechanical = $15.00) An example is provided at the bottom of the Permit Fees section on page 2. *Will Call Inspection: When calling for your inspection leave the best contact name and number. The inspector will call you at least 15 minutes prior to arriving at your site. They are subject to review and adjustment annually. Fees are based on either RESIDENTIAL or ALL OTHER FEES. Do not use both categories to determine your fees. Please note the Town of Vail still requests you list the valua- tion of work on RESIDENTIAL permits as we report on this data. The State of Colorado allows local jurisdictions to charge up to 15% above their mandated fees as listed below. Inspections: Permit fees include TWO inspections only. For ALL additional inspections, including re -inspection for cor- rections issued by the electrical inspector, a $57.50 fee is required. This fee must be paid before any additional inspec- tions will be performed. Construction Use Tax: See formula listed on page 1 in the Building Permit Fees section. Construction use tax will be applied to any electrical permit with a valuation exceeding $10,000 where there is NO building work. Will Call: $5.00 applied to every electrical permit. When calling for your inspection, simply state that you would like "Will Call" and leave the best contact name and number. The inspector will call you on his or her way to your site. Section A. RESIDENTIAL: This fee (based on the enclosed living area only) includes construction of, or remodeling or addition to a single family home, a unit in a duplex, a condominium, or a town house. If you are only providing or changing a service and not wiring any portion on the above, see section Yon page 5 for correct permit fee. ALL OTHER FEES including some residential installations that are not based on square footage (not in a living area, i.e. garage, shop, and photovoltaic, etc.). Fees in this section are calculated form the total cost to customer, including electrical materials, items and labor -whether provided by the contractor or the property owner. Use this chart for a service connection, a temporary meter, and all commercial installations. Such fees shall be computed as follows: (See `C' below for the permit fees for a mobile/modular home and travel trailer parks). Re -inspections and plan review for re -submittals shall be billed at $72.00 per hour.
