PRReport.Feb2017 March 9, 2017 TO: Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council FROM: Kristin Yantis and Melissa Delekta, MYPR CC: Kelli McDonald, Town of Vail RE: February 2017 Public Relations Report The main focus for February was the annual Chicago media mission. The agency tightened up content for media materials, secured media guests for the event, coordinated with Gabe Shalley at Vail Resorts, etc. The agency also started looking into a San Fransisco media event in place of the Texas trip. MYPR also started securing summer media visits with lodging partners. The Mexican press trip dates and lodging were secured along with the June summer trip in conjunction with Hotel Talisa. The agency also finalized plans to host a key market producer summit for Macaroni Kids at The Antlers. Dates for the September press trip along with theme, activities and hosting location were researched. We anticipate securing the September trip in March. Chicago Media Mission Working with Gabe Shalley, we once again secured the United Airlines suite at the Blackhawaks game on Thursday, Feb. 23 for a media event. United was kind enough to host our group and Vail only needed to pay for the food and beverage charges. We had a waitlist for the event and there was only one no show. Attendees included:  Contributing Editor at the New York Times  Family Travel Blogger - WorkingMomTravels.com  Travel Blogger / Online Influencer - TravelingTed.com  Travel Editor at the Chicago Tribune  Two writers from Food Travelist blog  Managing Editor at the Chicago Sun Times  Freelance writer for USAToday.com 10 Best, TravelingMom.com  Family Travel Blogger - Well Traveled Kids  Travel Blogger - Campfires & Concierges  Freelance writer for LA Weekly, Palm Springs Life, Playboy and others  Editor at Village View Publications As you can see, there is a great mix of bloggers, freelancers and editors. There was a lot of immediate interest and MYPR is continuing to follow up with all writers. For example, one writer found the BRAVO! lineup to be interesting and thought that the anniversary could provide a great, newsworthy angle while pitching. Sample Media Placements Each month we will provide the VLMDAC with highlight clips. The agency also will provide the VLMDAC with more comprehensive, analytic reports on a quarterly basis. As expected, there wasn’t a lot of summer coverage in February, however, following are a couple of items.  TravelPulse.com – February 2017 Headline: Pop the Question at One of these Underrated Romantic Destinations Link: http://www.travelpulse.com/news/destinations/pop-the-question-at-one-of-these-underrated- romantic-destinations.html?platform=hootsuitcie Note: This story was a result of hosting Charu Suri at Solaris last summer.  Colorado Public Radio – February 2017 Headline: BRAVO! Vail Details Summer 2017 Schedule Link: http://www.cpr.org/classical/news/bravo-vail-rolls-out-2017-season-schedule Note: BRAVO! recently released a press release detailing its summer lineup. Colorado Public Radio is one example of where this release was picked up. Focus for March  Contiunue follow up on all Chicago leads.  Plan San Fransisco Media Event – possibly in conjunction with the VVP sales team.  Continue Denver, monthly media outreach.  Finalize details for September press trip.  Continue outreach to secure attendees for summer press trips.  Distribute general invite for summer, one-on-one media visits.
