These clarifications are in response to your comments dated January 13,2016.
Sheet FA-002:
The Pre-Action Dry sprinkler system has been clarified on the sequence of operations.
Sheet FA-100:
The detection in the Kitchen,Dry Storage and Work and Servery is existing. These areas are not
included in the scope of work and the existing devices will remain. Any older incompatible
"MapNet" style devices will be changed out for new"IdNet" style devices and any"MapNet"
brought down from the existing fire alarm panel on the 1St floor will be re-landed on the expander
transponder. All notification devices on this level will be changed out on a one-for-one basis and
supplemented to meet code requirements. To help clarify areas the areas under this provision a
hatch has been added to the drawings.
Sheet FA-101:
The detection in the MRI, Operations/Control and Director's office is existing. These areas are
not included in the scope of work and the existing devices will remain. Any older incompatible
"MapNet" style devices will be changed out for new"IdNet" style devices and any"MapNet"in
this area will be relanded on the expander Fire Alarm Control Panel. For this reason the end-of-
line resistor in the MRI will need to be changed. All notification devices on this level will be
changed out on a one-for-one basis and supplemented to meet code requirements. To help clarify
areas the areas under these provisions a hatch has been added to the drawings.
The smoke detectors in Demarc 1051 and VVMC IT 1048 are not required however as a good
practice I am leaving the detector in VVMC IT 1048 to protect the hospital's equipment. The
detector in DeMarc 1051 will be removed.
The duct detector in Office 1042 is to be located near the existing,to remain, exhaust fire smoke
damper.

The smoke detector in the vestibule was to provide for detection in the path of egress along with
the detector just outside the doors. The detector address 1:M9-55 is located in the 23" soffit
pocket and detector 1:M9-56 is in the 16"pocket by the elevators.
Sheet FA-102:
The detection in the Patient Corridor Shower and Mech/Cart Storage 2019 is existing and will be
brought over to the new"IdNet" feeding this floor. The detector in Mech/Cart Storage 2019 will
provide detection at the Fire Alarm Notification Appliance Circuit Panel(NAC).
It is unclear which devices are being questioned in the corridor south of elevator 5. The smoke
detector to the west of the doors is existing along with the two door holders between the smoke
compartments. The control module for the door holders is not compatible with"IdNet" and will
be replaced. The three duct detectors are for the fire/smoke dampers on the air handling units that
feed the West Wing.
All incompatible "MapNet" devices will be changed out for"IdNet" compatible devices on a
one-for-one basis. The existing Signaling Line Circuit(SLC) in this area will be re-landed on the
new"IdNet" feeding this area. All notification devices on this level will be changed out on a one-
for-one basis and supplemented to meet code requirements. To help clarify areas the areas under
these provisions a hatch has been added to the drawings.
Sheet FA-103:
The existing operating rooms, surgery support and office are not under this scope of work. The
detectors are compatible with the new"IdNet" feeding this area and the existing SLC will be re-
landed on the panel for this floor.
The duct detector in Women's Locker 3042 is to be located near the existing, to remain, exhaust
fire smoke damper. The smoke detector in the Clean Ante Room 3061 is not required and will be
removed.
Due to the limitations of the fire alarm system a new Network Node Panel is required during the
phasing of the remodels. This panel is located in the I.T. Room 3004 and is shown on the panel
detail FA-504. All system controls will remain at the main Node 1 Fire Alain"Panel located o the
first floor. If requested by the AHJ a solid door can be placed over this cabinet.
All devices on this level are compatible with the new IdNet SLC and will be re-landed on the
new IdNet feeding this area. All notification devices on this level will be changed out on a one-
for-one basis and supplemented to meet code requirements. To help clarify areas the areas under
these provisions a hatch has been added to the drawings.
Sheet FA-104:

The smoke detectors in Bio Haz Holding 4090, Electric 4091 a and Spri/WMG I.T. 4094 are not
required however as a good practice I am leaving the detector in Spri/WMC IT 4094 to protect
the hospital's equipment. The detectors in BioHaz Holding and Electric 4091a will be removed.
