Background
The project goal is to undergo testing at the final point in construction to determine if the home
meets the IECC requirements for infiltratoin. Active Energies was contracted to perform a final
blower door test to determine total air infiltration. The home is permitted under the Town of
Vail and requires blower door testing per the IECC. The blower door testing must show a tested
value of 3 ACH50 or lower in order to comply with the IECC. The project does not have outside
air going directly into any ductwork and does not have ductwork run outside of conditioned
space, so it is our determination that this home should meet the exemption for duct leakage
testing requirements and, therefore, was not tested for duct leakage at the final phase.
Site Observations
Construction of the building envelope was complete. All exterior openings were shut and locked
and interior doors were open. The blower door test was performed in the doorway between the
home and garage. The pressure probe place outside.
Blower Door Test
The home was depressurized, utilizing blower door testing equipment to a pressure of -50 Pa. At
the test pressure, the CFM50 was recorded, in order to determine the ACH50.
The blower door air leakage resulted in the following measurements: 2.02 ACH50
