*Field Inspection
Dear Mr. Foley.
As requested, structural steel special inspection was conducted at the above
referenced project per the IBC 2012 Edition - Chapter 17: Structural Tests and Special
Inspection and the requirements of the Town of Vail. I arrived at the jobsite at 9:00 AM
and again at 2:30 PM. 1 met with you and Mr. Pat Fox to review areas ready for
inspection and project requirements. The Welding Procedure Specification PAT-FOX -
WPS-TC-U4A dated 3/16/2015, Welder Qualification Test Reports: PAT-F 3 -PAT
ENTERP dated 12/2/2014, and PAT F 1-PAT FOX ENT dated 9/3/2014 for Fox Welding
Inc., the steel erector for this project, were reviewed and found to be in compliance with
project specifications. Copies are on file with Mr. Fox.
Visual welding inspection was conducted at the Loft Floor Framing Plan Level on
field welded connections on the steel framing for the loft addition in Unit # 330.
Placement of steel can be located on the approved structural drawings provided by K.RM
Consultants, Inc.: Job # 1210-04 dated 8/6/15 on Sheet S2. The detail utilized for
inspected was Section 1 on Sheet SI. Inspection revealed that welds had not been
chipped and cleaned so I instructed Mr. Pat Fox on the necessary action needed so
inspection could be properly performed. I returned to the site at 2:30PM after the
corrections had been made. It was found that connections at transfer angles to embed
angles, 2" pipe to transfer angles, and 2"pipe to channel were all fabricated and welded as
detailed and in accordance with project specifications.
