RE: Snow Retention Plan for 1210 W Haven Lane,Vail,Colorado
Dear Sirs:
The house at 1210 W Haven Lane in Vail, Colorado is to be reroofed. As a part of that reroofing
the current snow retention devices are going to be removed. This layout is to describe the
reinstallation of snow retention devices for the new roofing system.
The current system is as shown below.

The snow fences are a maximum of 12"high and are a commercial snow fence. The retained
snow is not thick enough as a slab to change the maximum snow load on the building.
The gutters shall be secured so that the moving snow slab either goes over the top of the gutter or
they shall be secured so that the drag placed on the gutter by the moving snow does not pull the
gutter from the building. In either case all gutter hangers shall be secured using screws that
penetrate a minimum of 1" into the framing behind the facia boards.
The layout for the new roof snow control shall be the same as the old roof. The owner is aware
that snow retention devices do not stop all snow movements and that snow slides are possible in
heavy snows with the devices operating properly.
