Blower Door Report
Test Date: December 2, 2016
Builder: Holm Construction
Contact: Claes Holm
Site Address: 738 Sandy Lane, Vail, CO
Site Visit By: Megan Gilman
Background
The project goal is to undergo testing at final construction to determine the final amount of air
infiltration and identify any weak areas or difficult details for correction. The project is located
in the Town of Vail, where the current code requires an air tightness of 3 ACH50 or less. Active
Energies was contracted to perform a final blower door test to determine total air infiltration.
Site Observations
Construction of the building envelope was nearing completion. All exterior openings were shut
and locked and interior doors were open. The ceiling did not have drywall installed and was
having tongue and groove wood applied directly to the underside of the vapor barrier. Several
exterior doors did not yet have hardware, so their hardware holes were covered with tape. Bath
fans were installed, so their backdraft dampers were left to engage during the test. The kitchen
range hood was not yet installed, so that duct was covered during the test, since the backdraft
damper will be integral to the unit which is not yet installed. The blower door test was
performed in lower level exit door. The pressure probe place outside.
Blower Door Test
The home was depressurized, utilizing blower door testing equipment to a pressure of -50 Pa. At
the test pressure, the CFM50 was recorded, in order to determine the ACH50.
The blower door air leakage resulted in the following measurements: 2.3 ACH50
