General Information: This application is required for all proposals involving· minor chu~~::::.:~~~;.m~~.,.
ments, such as roofing, painting, window additions, landscaping, fences, retaining wal s, etc. Applicable Vail Town
Code sections can be 'found at www.vailgov.com under Vail Information -Town Code Online. All projects requiring de-
sign review must receive approval prior to submitting a building permit application. An application for Design Review
cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development Department, as outlined in
the submittal requirements. The project may also need to be reviewed by the Town Council and/or the Planning and
Environmental Commission. Design review approval expires one y~ar from the date of approval, unless a building per-
mit is issued and construction commences.

Summary;
The current roof is a traditional BUR, (Built-up roof-asphalt/felt composition-"Hot-
Mop"), system with aggregate/rock/gravel surfacing.
The proposed system is a SA, SBS BUR, (self-adhering, Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene, a
rubberized asphalt modifier 0 Built-up-Roof), system with a mineral surfaced finish.
The relative low/shallow 2:12 pitch of the roof somewhat limits the applicable roofing
materials which can be applied in conjunction with good roofing practices; Particularly in
the particular climatic region the structure resides.
The SA, SBS mineral surfaced system was chosen/proposed, based on similar material
composition, aesthetic, organic surfacing/texture and overall applicable functionality &
need for a monolithic-type roof covering on a low-slope roof of it's nature.
