the balcony. The size of the gas pipe serving the balcony is based on a 30,000 BTU/h
barbecue.
In Unit 372, it is acceptable to connect a 3/4" pipe to the existing 1-1/4" natural gas riser,
and route to an accessible gas cock at the balcony. As with Unit 343,the size of the gas
pipe serving the balcony is based on a 30,000 BTU/h barbecue.
The installation standards should generally conform to the base building specifications and
code requirements,and shall provide for the safety of the building occupants. The natural
gas system should be thoroughly inspected and tested prior to putting anything back in
service.
Installation and replacement of gas piping and accessories shall be performed only by a
qualified installer. The term qualified is defined as experienced in such work,familiar with
precautions required,and has complied with the requirements of the authority having
jurisdiction.
The installing Contractor shall comply with the requirements of the following codes:
o NFPA 54-National Fuel Gas Code,for gas piping materials and components,gas
piping installations, and inspection,testing,and purging of gas piping systems.
o Town of Vail Local Building Code.
o Utility Compliance: Fabricate and install natural gas systems in accordance with
local gas utility company.

observation of the existing gas piping installation, and therefore certain assumptions were
made in the development of this letter, based on specific input from Vail Resorts. Cator,
Ruma is not responsible for code compliance or installation of the proposed work outlined
herein.
