Proposal for reducing sound of chiller at rear of Rucksack building at 288
Bridge Street in Vail, Colorado
Dear Bill,
Sortland Contractors Inc. proposes to furnish all labor, materials,
equipment and supervision to mitigate the noise and vibration as outlined
in the report by DL Adam Associates, Inc. on 9/16/2011.
Proposal is to include the following:
Chiller modifications (by Climate Control Company)
* Add a VFD drive to the condenser fan motor for a "soft start".
* Add 2" Johns Manville liner board to the inside of the chiller
cabinet.
* Replace the chiller discharge air ducting with lined ducting. This
was not an option recommended by the report but included as per
conversations about the discharge air.
* Compressor blankets and discharge piping.
(Cost increase by contractor--$340.00)
Deck & stairs modifications:
1. Install "quiet board" panels on top of the chiller extending to the
walls of the building and trash room and up to the side of the lower
railing. Cover with decking or railing boards for cosmetics.
2. Install "quiet board" panels between the lower railing and the chiller.
3. Install "quiet board" panels under the lowest deck landing (just
above chiller).
4. Enclose stair risers and under treads with "quiet board" panels and
l plywood; paint to match railing.
5. Install "quiet board" panels to short concrete walls around the front
of the chiller.
(Cost increase on materials and shipping---$530)
(Cost increase on labor ---$900)
Exclusions:
1. Sound panels on south side of chiller (facing Red Lion building).
Mechanical contractor said this would prohibit access and
maintenance to the chiller. Some modification could be done later
with coordination of the mechanical contractor.
2. Window and door modifications-both R-1 and R-2 are scheduled for
remodeling and windows and doors may be changed at that time.
3. Framing or demolition to framing
4. Concrete cutting/core drilling
5. Excavation/trenching
6. Line voltage electrical
7. Concrete/housekeeping pads
8. Fire protection systems
9. Plumbing systems
10. Design drawings
Other fees included:
• Design review board fee and up to 2 hours of presentation time
• Permits
(Allowance for increased permit fees-----$1000.00-Town of Vail could
not give a firm cost)
Total proposal amount: $28,060.00
Cordially,
Ken Sortland
