Re: Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, Phase 3 Improvements
Below is a list of proposed improvements being submitted for DRB review regarding the
Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, Phase 3 Improvements. Reference the attached drawings
for additional information:
1. Extension of ticket office wall to provide added security. (Sheet A1.1)
2. Relocation of gate adjacent to ticket office, additional boulders and landscape
improvements to provide additional security. (Sheet L1.1)
3. Additional landscape screening at loading dock to reduce visual impact of loading dock
area from East Betty Ford Way. (Sheet L1.2)
4. Additional boulder and landscaping at east restroom to prevent patrons from
shortcutting from lawn seating to access the restrooms and concessions. (Sheet L1.2)
5. Replacement of damaged grass with synthetic turf at lower section of lawn seating. This
area is used for seating during performances but it is difficult to maintain live grass due to
lack of sunlight, excess water due to drainage from above, and guest traffic/seating.
Synthetic turf proposed for durability and guest comfort. (Sheet L1.3)
6. Additional landscaping at concession/ merchandise counter adjacent to west end of
lawn seating to prevent patrons from shortcutting from lawn seating to access concession
area. (Sheet L1.4)
7. Replacement of donor monument at west concession/ entry plaza with a new donor
monument at the same location. Material to be stone and copper to match “Ford Family
Tribute” and other elements on the project. (Sheet A1.1 and L1.5)
8. New custom site furniture for ticket/bag check at main amphitheater entrance. Material
to be stone and copper to match existing stone features below the canopy and other
elements on the project (Sheet L1.5)
