Vail Design and Review Board Members;
On behalf of the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Museum and Hall of Fame Board of Directors I am
submitting our design application for your review.
The intent of the Museum’s expansion plan is to both improve access and visibility of the facility
and, more importantly, enhance the experience of the visitor with an uninterrupted flow
through the expanded and modernized exhibit space. By aligning the entrance of the museum
with the main stairway leading to/from the parking structure and adding a gabled roof to the
expanded space we will be creating a more visible entrance while giving us the opportunity to
reorganize the interior exhibit space providing an expansive feeling for visitors when they are
viewing our displays.
Our plan incorporates many of the design features and color schemes of the recently renovated
Vail Welcome Center situated directly above the museum thus completing the cohesive and
modernized facelift of the Vail Village parking structure.
A vastly improved Museum will enhance the off-mountain and/or indoor amenities and
experiences that non-skiing guests are actively seeking in the commercial core of Vail Village
and have a positive economic impact on Vail since Museum’s visitors, tend to linger and explore
the entire village.
We are looking forward to your approval as a next step in the museum’s long awaited
transformation.
