Subject:Re: VVMC EE - O2 Enclosure - State Meeting Follow-up Documentation
Categories:VVMC, Filed by Newforma
Good Morning Ryan,
It does not appear that the design of this enclosure using two 2-hour rated fire barrier walls converging at 90-degrees,
connected by two non-rated louvered walls, conflicts with any of our adopted Codes or Standards and is, therefore, an
acceptable design arrangement. My one concern is in regards to the requirement for two exits from the enclosure (NFPA
99, 5.1.3.3.2). Access from within the enclosure to the single man door on the southwest corner of the enclosure
appears to be pretty tight (<2') between the enclosure wall and the tank. Although NFPA 99 doesn't provide us a
minimum width for the egress provided, I would expect to see that it meets, at a minimum, NFPA 101, 7.3.4.1(2), which
is 36".
I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions or if you need further clarification.
Have a good week and a nice 4th.
Regards,

Chris -
Thank you for meeting with us this week. During the meeting, we reviewed a proposed O2 enclosure with you and you
asked us to provide drawings with % open values at each wall.
Attached find a floor plan, site plan, and elevations indicating these open % values. Additionally, I have included a copy
of the CGA P-41 document, which outlines the allowance of the >50% walls (see section 3.2.1 on page 5 of 10 in the
pdf). I have also included the cut sheet and memo from the vendor of the proposed screening element and % open
values for your reference.
Finally, the design has evolved such that the 'roof' has been replaced with vertical 'slats,' which we believe will provide
a visual screen from neighbors while making the enclosure open to the sky.

I welcome any feedback or comments. We are looking to proceed with this design and would like to know your
thoughts ahead of a formal submission.
