HomeMy WebLinkAboutsummary from Paul Cada.docx Subsequently, we pushed to have the Town of Vail Fire Department provide recommendations (which are summarized below):   I met with Paul Cada, Wildland Coordinator with the Town of Vail Fire Department. He had some great information and knowledge that he shared with me. He said that the property was a typical old town Vail home. Here is his list for the recommended Fire Mitigation needed:   You have 3-4 trees that he recommends cutting down, if you choose to not cut them down at least have the branches trimmed so they are not hanging over the roof. Once a year (usually Late July – Early August), remove all the pine needles that have accumulated under the house. Suggested having gravel eventually placed under the house or enclose the base of the house. He mentioned that the pine needles under the house was his biggest concern. Once a year (usually late July – early August), cut all of the grass within 10-20 feet of the house 6 inches or less. Once a year double check that all limbs on the fern trees (spruce, pines, etc.) are cut shoulder length high.  New trees should be left alone until they reach about 15 feet in height. Aspen trees are fine to leave them they are. Thanks, Chris
