The Riser Manifolds described in thistechnical data sheet provide the nec-essary waterflow alarm, pressuregauge, and drain equipment in a singleassembly for use in NFPA 13D or 13Rresidential sprinkler systems as fol-
lows:

The variety of sizes and end connec-tions allow cost effective and easytransition to check valves, controlvalves, and system piping. The RiserManifolds may be installed in either thehorizontal (flow switch on top) or verti-cal (flow going up).
The Figure 513D (13D) and 513D/R(13D/R) Riser Manifolds with a covertamper switch for the waterflow alarmswitch are UL Listed, ULC Listed, andFM Approved.
The Figure 513D (13D) and 513D/R(13D/R) Riser Manifolds without a
cover tamper switch for the waterflowalarm switch are UL Listed and FM
Approved.
175 psi (12,1 bar)
The manifold body of the Figure 513 is
ductile iron, whereas the manifoldbody of the Figure 13 is cast iron. The
two assemblies are completely inter-changeable in function, application,
and end-to-end laying length.
Red painted.
The Riser Manifolds may be installed
in either the horizontal (flow switch ontop) or vertical (flow going up). The
inlet of the Riser Manifold may be di-rectly connected to a shut-off control
valve.
Install the manifold body with
the flow arrow pointing in the down-stream position using threaded con-nections and/or listed mechanicalgrooved connections, as applicable.
Connect the drain line, and
then close the drain valve.
Refer to Figure 4 for wiringguidance. All wiring must be per-formed in accordance with the Author-
ity Having Jurisdiction and/or the Na-tional Electrical Code.
Place the system in service by
filling the system with water. When fill-ing the system, partially open the con-
trol valve to slowly fill the system.
After the system is fully pressurized, completely open the control valve.
Secure all supply valvesopen.

The following inspection proceduremust be performed as indicated, in ad-dition to any specific requirements ofthe NFPA, and any impairment mustbe immediately corrected.
The owner is responsible for the in-
spection, testing, and maintenance oftheir fire protection system and de-
vices in compliance with this docu-ment, as well as with the applicable
standards of the National Fire Protec-tion Association (e.g., NFPA 25), in
addition to the standards of anyauthority having jurisdiction. The in-
stalling contractor or product manufac-turer should be contacted relative to
any questions.
It is recommended that automaticsprinkler systems be inspected, tested, and maintained by a qualifiedInspection Service in accordance withlocal requirements and/or nationalcodes.
Fully open the drain valve.
Make certain that drainage water willnot cause any damage or injury.
Verify that the residual (flow-ing) pressure indicated by the pres-
sure gauge is no less that originallyrecorded for the system when it was
first installed.
Close the drain valve.
Verify that the static (not flow-
ing) pressure indicated by the pres-sure gauge is no less that originally
recorded for the system when it wasfirst installed.
Temporarily install a test ori-fice in the drain line outlet.
Fully open the drain valve.Make certain that drainage water will
not cause any damage or injury.
Verify operation of the associ-ated alarms.
Close the drain valve.
Remove the test orifice fromthe drain line outlet.
Fully open the Inspector’s Test
Connection Valve. Make certain thatdrainage water will not cause any dam-
age or injury.
