Back boxes for each pull station shall be single gang deep or four square 2 1/8 inch deep with a single gang p ring. Back boxes for each smoke detector and heat detector shall be plastic four-inch round, four-inch metal octagonal, or four square with a round p ring. Back boxes for each exterior horn strobe shall be weather proof manufacturer specific. Back boxes for each horn strobe shall be four inch square 2 1/8 inch deep. Back boxes for each strobe shall be four-inch square 2 1/8 inch deep. 7. Junction boxes for each flow switch and tamper switch shall be provided on the wall immediately adjacent to the switch and 3/8" or 1/2" flex conduit provided from the junction box to the switch. 8. Back boxes for each control device (IDP Relay) shall be four-inch square 2 1/8 inch deep. 9. Buffer relay locations require an additional four-inch square extension ring. General Installation Notes Initiating Devices Corridor end smoke detectors to be mounted a maximum of 20' from the end of the corridor. Smoke detectors shall be mounted at least 12 inches away from any sprinkler head. Smoke detectors shall be located a minimum of 3 feet from any air supply or return. All smoke and heat detectors shall be mounted on the ceiling and a minimum of 16 inches from any corner. Spacing between corridor smoke detectors shall not exceed 41 feet center to center of device. Spacing between general area smoke detectors shall not exceed 30 feet center to center of device. Finish trim of smoke detectors shall be completed at the end of the final cleanup phase of construction just prior to occupancy. All heat detectors shall be mounted within 3 feet of the peak on a shed style roof. Any devices falling on lighting fixtures or other obstructions to be moved according to the above parameters. Pull Stations Double action pull stations shall be located 46" AFF to bottom of pull station, 48" to actuating mechanism. Pull stations are to be clear of obstructions a minimum of 3" surrounding the device. Wire from floor to each pull station or ceiling to each pull station shall be run in ½” emt conduit. Heat Detectors Locate all heat detectors in mechanical rooms a minimum of 3' from furnace flue. Wiring All rough-in wiring shall be mounted to structural framing. Wiring to all devices mounted below ceiling level shall be run in ½” emt conduit. Notification Circuits (NAC) Corridor wall mount horn strobes shall be mounted 80 inches AFF to bottom of the appliance. Corridor notification appliances shall be mounted no more than 15' from the end of the corridor. Wire for horn strobe notification circuits shall be 14 awg FPLR two conductor fire wire. External horn strobe shall be mounted above the FDC, or approved location by AHJ. All notification circuits shall be CLASS B wiring loops unless otherwise specified on the prints. All visual notification circuits shall be synchronized. Any appliance marked with a C classification is a ceiling mount appliance and its location is to scale on the prints. Wire for all wall mount appliances shall be ran in ½” emt conduit from device to ceiling or device to floor. Initiation Circuits (SLC) All initiating circuit wiring shall be wired in 16awg 4 conductor FPLR fire wire. All initiating circuits shall be CLASS B wiring loops. All initiating circuit wiring is to be run a minimum of 6 inches from AC power and cross AC power at right angles. Fire Sprinkler Sprinkler valve locations existing.
