As further described below, encroachments are proposed to View Corridors#1 and #2. View Corridor#1 VC#1 is a view from the south side of the Vail Transportation Center toward Vail Village and Vail Mountain. The purpose of the view corridor is to "protect the views of Vail Mountain, views of Vail Village and to maintain the prominence and views of the Clock Tower and Rucksack Tower as seen from the central staircase of the Transportation Center" Portions of the Hill Building currently encroach into this view corridor. Existing encroachments are limited to a portion of roof at the northeast corner of the building and two chimneys. This encroachment request is necessary in order to nominally increase the ridge height of the existing roof and to slightly increase the height of the existing chimneys. View Corridor#4 VC#4 is a view from the corner of Wall Street and One Vail Place Building toward the Gore Range. The purpose of this view corridor is "to protect views of the Gore Range as seen from the alley between Founders Plaza and Seibert Circle". An existing 3rd Level balcony currently encroaches into this view corridor. This balcony is proposed to be removed. The encroachment request is necessary in order to extend roof eaves lines that currently extend +/-18"from the north face of the building to 3'8".
