I have to say I was incredibly impressed with the result.  The 2012 IECC (International Energy Conservation Code) requires a home to have no greater than 3 air changes per hour at 50 pascals of pressure (ACH50) - itself an admirable threshold.  Your home, however tested at 1.7 ACH50, exceeding the threshold by a large margin.  Well done!  For context, the next closest home I have tested had an ACH50 figure of 4.8, good enough for the 2009 IECC but not good enough for current code.  Most homes I have tested (over 120 in the past couple of years, of varying ages) are in the 4- 20 range. I credit your excellent thermal performance to a number of factors, namely: 1. Very simple roof forms with a minimum of dormers, bump outs etc.; 2. Continuous rigid insulation at the roof plane, with very few, if any, penetrations (such as can lights, ducts, etc - these are typically extremely leaky);  3. A very continuous thermal envelope at the wall framing, with minimal penetrations for plumbing, electrical wires, ducts, etc. 4. Careful attention to air sealing at the factory, including careful taping of the windows to reduce air infiltration.  The high-tech membranes used in this building are unconventional by American standards (we tend to wrap the insides of our buildings with plastic, and are generally not particularly conscious of continuity of the air sealing, resulting in lots of little leaks at the window frames, electrical outlet boxes, plumbing penetrations etc.    5. Excellent seals at the doors and windows; 6. A high-efficiency boiler, which eliminates the need for an open combustion duct as seen in many homes built without high-efficiency boilers. 7. No attic - an even blanket of snow remained on your home (compared to your neighbors) showing very little air or thermal leakage through the roof. 8. No crawlspace. All in all, I think a lot of designers and builders could learn from your example of excellent construction and attention to detail.  I look forward to testing more homes as well-built and thoughtfully designed as this one.
